Ahmedabad: The number of candidates appearing in the Common Admission Test (CAT) for the Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs) keeps on increasing, as a record 170,000 aspirants are to appear in the entrance exam Sunday.
The figure was up from about 150,000 candidates that appeared for the examination last year, CAT chairperson Ajay Pandey said.
The exam to select about 1250 students for the top business schools will be held at 24 cities Nov 20.
At least one faculty member from any of the six IIMs will be present at each exam centre to supervise fair conduct of the test, said Pandey of the IIM Ahmedabad.
Many B-schools of India use the CAT score as the basis for entrance to their respective institutes, too.
The six IIMs are based in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore and Kozhikode.
