Thirteen-year-old Divakar is a student of D.P.S. R.K. Puram, Delhi. He started singing at the age of 4yrs. Visually impaired, he is a source of light to many children. Currently he is giving a lump-in-the-throat moment to the viewers of Sa Re Ga Ma Li’l Champs on Zee TV.
So much so, that people have been sending letters to the producers of the show that they would like to donate their eyes to Diwakar after their death. He has won many awards not only for his singing but a Gold Medal for his accuracy and skill in computers. A short film named ‘Divakar’ was made highlighting the achievements and courage, which was telecast on Doordarshan. Home Ministry of Indian Government has also rewarded him with ‘Saraswati Samman’.
Producer-Director Sanjay Leela Bansali says, “I love watching Lil Champs. In fact that’s the only show I watch on television. I really like Diwakar in the show. I can relate him to my movie character in BLACK. I have invited Diwakar to visit my sets of ‘Sawariya’.”
Vidhu Vinod Chopra remarks that when he asked his wife and Children’s to see his latest film ‘Eklavya’ they straightforwardly refused saying its time to watch Sa re ga ma, so they will see the movie later. “I wasn’t aware that Lil Champs is so popular,” he says.
An appreciatory letter from former Prime Minister Mr.Atal Behari Vajpayee was a surprise for the entire team of Sa Re Ga Ma. The winner of Li’l Champs will get Rs.15 lakhs, the first runner up will get Rs.10 lakhs and the second runner up will get Rs.5 lakhs.
IndiaGlitz salutes the spirit of Diwakar. May he go a long way in life…
