MPTC, ZPTC polls from May 6th


 
Hyderabad, April 20 (INN): Telangana State Election Commissioner V. Nagi Reddy on Saturday announced the schedule for conduct of elections MPTCs of MPPs and ZPTCs of ZPPs in Telangana State.

As per the schedule, the polling will be held in three phases on 6th, 10th and 14th May and counting of votes for all three phases will be done on May 27.

The Election Notice for first phase of polling will be issued on April 22 and the last date for filing of nominations will be 24th April. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be April 28 and polling will be on May 6 from 7 am to 5 pm. As many as 197 ZPTCs and 2,166 MPTCs in Medchal and Malkajgiri districts will go to polls in the first phase.

In the second phase, nominations will be received from 26th April and 2nd May will be the last date for withdrawal. Polling for second phase will be on May 10. As many as 180 ZPTCs and 1,913 MPTCs in Karimangar, Peddapalli, Mahabubnagar and Warangal Urban will go to polls in the second phase.

Likewise, the third phase of elections will begin on 30th April and last date for withdrawal of nomination will be May 6 while the polling will be on May 14. A total of 161 ZPTCs and 1,738 MPTCs will go to polls in the third phase in remaining 27 districts.

While there are 32 ZPPs and 539 MPPs/ZPTCs, the total number of MPTCs in Telangana State are 5,857. Of them, as many as 538 ZPTCs and 5,817 MPTCs are going to polls. Polling for Mangapeta ZPTC in Mulugu district is not being held now due to legal impediments. Similarly, the term of 15 MPTCs in Jadcherla MPP in Mahabubnagar district will expire on May 3, 2020. Likewise, the term of 11 MPTCs in Burgampadu MPP and Bhadrachalam MPP in Bhadradri Kothagudem district will expire on July 2, 2020. Further, 14 MPTCs in Mangapeta MPP in Mulugu district is facing legal impediments. Therefore, elections are not being held for these MPTCs.

There are a total of 1,56,11,474 rural voters as on the date of publication of Territorial Constituency wise MPPs/ZPPs. The State Election Commission will establish 32,042 polling stations at 13,651 locations. It has also appointed 2,879 Returning Officers and drafted 147,000 personnel for polling duty. Nearly 54,000 security personnel will also be deployed for smooth conduct of elections.
