This venture according to the minster “is our answer to MIT’s $100 computer.” Earlier MIT had developed a $100 computer for children in the developing world however India had rejected it saying it was too costly.
Sibal had then called upon India’s elite technological institutions to develop $35 computer in the spirit of inclusive growth. He plans to ultimately get the cost down to as low as $10.
