Two more Congress MLAs to join TRS? Hyderabad, March 10 (INN): Two more MLAs of Congress party, P. Sabitha Indira Reddy and Haripriya Naik, are likely to join the ruling TRS.
According to sources, MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi hosted lunch at his residence for Sabitha Indira Reddy and her son Karthik Reddy on Sunday. They were joined by TRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao and Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha. During the meeting, Sabitha Reddy and her son were convinced to join the ruling party.
There were unconfirmed reports that TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and ex-CLP leader K. Jana Reddy met Sabitha Reddy on Sunday evening and tried to persuade her for not leaving the Congress party. However, it was not clear whether or not Sabitha Reddy accepted their request.
Strangely, it was Sabitha Indira Reddy who had delivered the welcome speech in the meeting addressed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi at Shamshabad on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Yellandu MLA Haripriya Naik has resigned from the Congress party to join the TRS. In her letter, she claimed that she was joining the ruling party as she believes that only Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao could develop Tribal areas and uplift the ST communities.
Reacting to the development, Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Rao said that the exit of Sabitha Reddy would not cause any major damage to the Congress party. However, he said Sabitha Indira Reddy would not get the same amount of respect and importance in TRS as she used to get in Congress party.
