T-JACs press govt to postpone APPSC G1 exams Hyderabad, Sept 1 (INN): The Osmania University Joint Action Committee and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Wednesday demanded that the state government direct the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission to postpone the Group I examinations scheduled to be held on September 5, till the government decides on the demand of 40 per cent quota in recruitments for Telangana candidates.
Talking to media persons, the JAC members stated that without clarifying on the quota issue, the APPSC could not go ahead with conducting the Group-1 examination. The JAC leaders said that since the APPSC has refused to postpone the scheduled date of September 5 and announced that it would conduct the Group-1 examination, a meeting was called at the Osmania University to chalk out future course of action on getting the demand of 40 per cent quota for candidates from Telangana who have cleared the Group-1 preliminary exams, fulfilled.
On the lines of UPSC, the APPSC should implement reservation for all communities from preliminary examination stage itself, they asserted. The JAC members revealed that they would hold a candlelight vigil at all Telangana educational institutions on September 3.
They threatened that the government would be held responsible for any dire consequences that take place in the state in this regard. The members also demanded removal of APPSC chairman Venkataram Reddy as many corruption charges were pending against him. The JACs would announce their final decision after convening a meeting with student bodies on Thursday.
