Rich tributes paid to YSR on first anniversary Hyderabad, Sept 2 (INN): Tributes befitting the stature of one of the greatest political leaders in recent memory were paid at the first death anniversary of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday. Various programmes were organised across the state to mark the tragic event of September 2, 2009 in which YSR, along with four of his companions, was killed in a helicopter crash at Nallakalva in Nallamalla forests in Kurnool district.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, YSRs successor, was forced to cancel his scheduled visit to Nallakalva where the former chief ministers helicopter crashed on the Rudrakonda Hill, since he is suffering from viral fever and has been advised bed rest. Mr Rosaiah was to unveil a statue of the former chief minister. The Chief Minister sent a message which expressed his regrets over his inability to attend the ceremony.
Describing YSR as a great leader who always used to think of the welfare of people of the state, Mr Rosaiah regretted that,
