CEO Meets with Parties on Electoral Rolls


 
Hyderabad, Jan 8 (INN): Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar held a meeting with leaders of political parties today at his office.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Bahujan Samaj Party, BJP, CPI, CPI M, INC, NCP, AIMIM, TRS and TDP. The CEO informed the political parties about the schedule of the special summary revision w.r.t 01.01.2019 which is underway. It was also informed that 20th January has been identified as special campaign day across the state where the BLOs shall be present at the polling station with voter list to receive claims and objections. The special campaign day shall be 23rd January for all districts which are covered by the first phase of polling in the Gram Panchayat elections.

Some additional measures being undertaken in all Assembly constituencies of GHMC were discussed. BLOs are to sit at their polling stations daily from 4 pm to 7 pm with a copy of the electoral roll and forms from 9th January to 11th January and 23rd January to 25th January. They will spend the whole of the special campaign day i.e. 20 the January at the polling station.

All ward offices of GHMC shall have voter facilitation centers manned by an operator with a computer and internet connection. The operator shall inform applicants of their electoral status on the roll and supply and collect the necessary forms. These centers shall be run from 8th January to 25th January during office hours. Similar Voter Facilitation Counters shall be operational zed at all AERO, ERO, DC, Tahsildar, RDO and ZC offices from 8th January to 25th January. Drop boxes shall be maintained at major malls to allow voters to submit filled up forms from 8th January to 25th January.

EROs shall ensure that they visit all undergraduate colleges in their Assembly Constituency and urge eligible students to enroll themselves. Sufficient number of forms shall be left with the Principal and drop boxes shall be stationed at these colleges under the supervision of the college Principal.

A list of electors whose names have been deleted in 2015 and 2017 has been provided to the DEOs. These names are also being uploaded on the CEO Telangana website and shall be provided to all major political parties. Electors are urged to verify is their name is in the deleted lists and contact their BLO for enrolling their name in the voter list

The CEO appealed to the political parties to actively participate in the SSR 2019 activities by ensuring widespread voter awareness of the measures being taken. He requested that support be given to make sure that all eligible electors are enrolled with special focus on young adults in the 18-19 years age group, urban voters, women, PwDs and transgenders. He further appealed to all political parties to ensure that Booth Level Agents are appointed for all polling booths for a more participative electoral process.
