Videos > ITV Telugu > Kerala Mural Art: Arpitha Reddy Paints New Persepective on Indian Mythology
Arpitha Reddy, currently a resident of New Delhi, exhibited her mural paintings at the 12th American Telugu Association convention held in Atlanta from July 6th to 8th, 2012. The mural paintings were in Kerala tradition.
Arpitha is not only trying to revive the mural art but also adding her own perspective to the Indian mythology, through her paintings.
She portrays the stories of the Indian mythology in a positive manner, which sets her apart. For instance, in the painting shown in the video where Lord Krishna is shown dancing on the hoods of serpent king, Kaliya..Kaliya is depicted not to be in pain or being killed, but in a state of bliss, having realized the supremeness of Lord Krishna and the guaranteed liberation (moksha/nirvana) resulting from the death at the hands (rather feet:)) of the creator of the universe. Kaliya is shown raising his eyes happily towards Krishna, pulling his tail out of water and coiling it merrily!
Many visitors have shown trmendous interest in Arpitha's work and are eagerly looking forward to seeing her future art works.
