After playing hide and seek for five months, the leopard in the premises of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) at Patencheru close to Hyderabad was caught on Sunday. The seven year old animal, weighing about 70 kgs, got trapped in the steel clutch wire snarl kept when it came to eat the pig meat placed there as bait. A series of snarls were installed at strategic locations in the vast ICRISAT complex. The feline walked into the snarl around 4.30 in the morning and its attempt to extricate has only tightened the snarl around it, forest officials after tranquilizing the animal transported and released it in the thick forest of Srisalam.
