Bridal make-up..from my view....

It is every girl's dream to look her best on the D-day.Her own wedding day that is the day she waits for with so much of eagerness and wants to be nothing less than the best. No compromises are made to look gorgeous.Parlours play an important role these days as they are the one who have mastered in this line... Booking parlours is not an easy job these days especially when it is marriage season.. just like renting a marriage hall , parlours too have gained importance.

The wudbe brides do some survey before actually making an entry.. more money more best look and ultimately the bride looks an angel from heaven...

All of the above content was actually a superficial intro of what i have experienced few days back..

Recently, i happened to attend my houseowner's daughter(nimisha)marriage, and my landlord's wife requested me to accompany her to parlour for make-up(just for formality i asked her if my help is needed and my landlord's wife made me the escort of her daughter!!! anyways.. i still loved it..) and more over i never ever thought that i wud endup spending my good time( 6 hours time just in a parlour!!!).

Trust me, intially i was not ready mentally for this but i have started to have amazing time in a parlour,,I felt the activities in the parlour was nothing less than a small scale industry. All the activities were so well catogorised.. different sections for different needs of the customers.. i found out that bride section to one side of hall and regular customers to the other side..

My job was to take care of the jewellery of the bride and give them as and when required. Some questions asked by the make-up men(sorry women) really surprised me. By the way, brides feel that men do better make-up( hmm i too felt the same on my....)

The first Q was about the duration of make-up.. Why are they bothered? (if i was in the bride's seat i wish it cud b for 3 lenghty days ..coz hey.. afterall for such huge money we are paying.. atleast the duration shud go..) i just said make it for 3 hrs.. and so basing on that they used some cosmetics..

The next Q was when is the wedding held..Morning or night? Well the bride gave the time so.. basing on that they gave the shades to her.. wow very meticulous..(they are no less than some great painters) i thought.

The most puzzling Q for me from the parlour lady was" do the brides face is going to be covered fully or partially... I burst out laughing but could not continue as they all started staring at me... ( ultimately the bride has to cover her face with the goongat(an veil ) in north india..an custom..and still the bride is ready to pour so many bucks.. !!!)..I thought once a girl is made bride she looks so vibrant and requires very little stuff on face, but here the girl's face is covered then why do she need so many coats of colored pastes and shades... funny!.

After the face it was the turn of her nails and hands where in they did atmost of their art work..then 2 experts were working mechanically on her hair.. Experts on eyes appeared from some where and highlighted the already beautiful eyes with some funny colors and glitters! an double eyelashes and she was looking no less than a model!!( though i felt she cud have looked little simple as i cud not recognise her the moment i turned in after a call).

Ornaments were fitted, and finally i thought OK my part of responsibility was over now and then BUT THE NEXT ONE HOUR went in draping the 15 kg dress Parlours have weighing machines to check the total weight, including suitable slippers/shoes. Last Q really buffled me:

HOW LONG THE BRIDE IS GOING TO CRY?!! This wAS RIDICULOUS, how can a bride answer this Question in advance?. Final touches of the make-up was dependent on this issue.

In the process of commercilisation emotions too require a specific tiem span.I too left the parlour with strange feeling. Was i amazed with the parlour lady's Q or was i disturbed or was i stunned with the cosmetic technology?.

Anyways, as long as brides are happy, I am happy for them
