Active Blogs | Popular Blogs | Recent Blogs Presently Indian Idol compititions are going on. Candidates from all over the country are participating. The judges panel contains three members including Mr.Anu Malik, cine music director. Thousands of candidates have participated. The number of final candidates has come down to mere 12. All of the 12 youngsters finally selected are highly talented. It is really difficult to judge the calibre of the candidates. Who is to be eliminated and who is to be retained is beyond the comprehension of ordinary people who do not have basic knowledge of music. While judging a person's deapth of singing knowledge many factors may have to be seen, like sruti, laya, taal and raaga. If this task is given to ordinary mortals( general -public ) who do not know a,b,c,d of music we will be doing great injustice to music.
According to the present procedure apart from the judges, general public also are asked to vote for the candidate of their choice through s m s . This procedure seems to be very defective and un- realistic. Because, here several factors will influence in making a candidate win or loose the game, like language, region, religion, sex and so on. Therefore the best way in my opinion is to increase the number of judges in the panel covering all shades of people and interests and totally avoid the public voting.
