Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan is one of the most respected politicians in contemporary India. The spokesperson of the new India, which wants to rid the country of its third world politics of privilege and pelf, DR. JP is the central force behind the desired winds of change sweeping across the Indian polity that seek to meaningfully combine economic growth with “New Political Culture”. The key to new political culture is the systematic decentralization of power.

DR. JP’s political work is aimed at building a vibrant, all inclusive, effective Indian polity. Non Resident Indians have contributed massively to Indian polity, hence their contributions to the construction of a vibrant, efficient and an inclusive Indian polity is quintessential. The Non Resident Indian community is removed, spatially from India. However, given their exposure to various political cultures, diverse forms of governance and cultures; they have a lot to contribute to India’s growth. Unfortunately, not many political organizations in India are ready to utilize the services of the Non Resident Community, who should be an integral part of India’s polity. DR. JP views Indian diaspora as a valuable resource which should be used to make the Indian polity better.

The Indian diaspora should be provided opportunities to contribute their share to the shaping of a new Indian polity. They are to be viewed as partners in Indian growth, who make vital contributions. In the west, India has many well-wishers who are deeply committed to the cause of Indian democracy. Indian polity has a lot to learn and imbibe from the activists and crusaders in the west, who are earnest in working towards helping populations elsewhere realize the benefits of a vibrant democracy.

In this context DR. JP’s visit to the US is an opportunity for the Indian polity, as DR. JP can be the bridge between India, the postcolonial state striving to become a vibrant democracy and the friends of Indian democracy who are willing to help India realize its potential. The visit would be meaningful, only if political bridges are built, political dialogues are undertaken and political expertise shared. The NRI community should be the bridge which facilitates the process of learning, which is the key to India emerging as a real, responsible, deserving super power.

Dr. JP will be visiting various cities and will meet the friends of Indian Democracy along with NRI community. Mr. Vijay Anand will be accompanying Dr. JP to all the following cities.
