Active Blogs | Popular Blogs | Recent Blogs Sri Veloor Lingiah Gupta, well known community leader and Philanthropist from Hyderabad has passed away on July 31st at 3:00 PM. He is the life time Chairman of Kachiguda Vysya Hostel and Vasavi Sevakendram. He extended the services of Vysya hostel beyond Vysya community and helped all the needy students throughout his tenure.
He believed in the social service, helping the students and needy people all over his life. He served the people and the community for several decades without expecting any benefit and he never wanted to get publicity.
He played key role in launching many community service programs till his last breath and on 2008 Aug 2nd, he helped launch Adopt-A-Student program at Hyderabad. Thousands of students who once stayed and got help from the Kachiguda Vysya Hostel and associated organisations paid their tributes to Sri Lingiah Gupta.
Sri Lingiah Gupta, 89 is survived by 5 Sons, a daughter and 18 Grand Children. His children are continuing the community service in the same way their father did. His son Veloor Ravindranath Gupta is continuing social services at Hyderabad through various programs. Another son Nagendra Gupta is currently serving as Vice-President for Telugu Literary and Cultural Association (TLCA) in New York apart from actively participating in various community programs in the United States including TANA, ATA and NATS.
President of the TLCA Shiva Kumar Muthiki on behalf of the TLCA committee has sent heartfelt condolenses to the family and friends of Sri Lingiah Gupta. Anand Garlapati, President of NRI Vasavi Association (NRIVA), Sanyasi Rao Vuppala from The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) and several other leaders expressed their shock over the sudden demise of Sri Lingiah Gupta.
