Active Blogs | Popular Blogs | Recent Blogs Happiness is the positive emotion arising in the mind due to reception of positive
External signals through the sensory organs (Eye, Ear, Nose, Tongue and skin) and
Internal signals arising from memories
A floated or excited feeling created in the peaceful mind is happiness. Laughing is an example. Without peace of mind laugh is not possible, without it mind cannot be anchored to any subject or object
Human acts, which are thought of resulting in to happiness (which involve all sensory organs including the mind or memory) :
· Seeing a most liked place or object or person,
· Listening to the most liked music, talk or good (success, recognition etc,)
· Smelling most liked items,
· Eating or tasting or drinking the most liked items,
· Having sense of touch of the loved or most liked one, skin comfortable conditions like conditioned air or temperature.
· Most liked or Sweet memories
Hungry eating is one of the human activities to keep the body comfort and gives peace of mind. It caters the essential body metabolic need, without which pain results. Similarly, removal of body’s tiredness, illness, severe sweat, cold and thirstiness etc. leads to body comfort & peace of mind.
Seeing, listening, smelling, sense of skin touch and sweet memories can give happiness only if body & mind are not under pain.
Apart from body discomfort, there are many other external reasons for mind’s discomfort, they, without the support of mind, cannot cause discomfort to it.
Mind discomfort is due to uncontrollable thoughts and memories or simply due to untamed mind. Pain removal from the mind causes a neutral state of mind or comfortable mind. A comfortable mind can be happy by receiving any positive (most liked) signal coming from the body sensors.
Happiness can be built over peace of mind by external
Temporary and limited parameters like money, material, people or
Eternal parameters like sky, clouds, rivers etc.
When body and mind are comfortable, laughing is an end result of reception of positive signals through body sensors, and it is happiness.
Mind comfort-ability is in one’s own control. But body comfort-ability demands material and hence money.
Body minimum comfort-ability is enough for laughing or to be happy. That is the reason why a poorest man (assured of minimum food, clothing and shelter) too can laugh and be happy.
One may need money:
To go to a place or object or person
To buy a music player
To buy perfume
To buy eatables
To buy AC, room heater
To get success
Except d) and e) others are not body needs hence not essential to get peace of mind.
Though d) and e) are body needs, only d) is minimum body need. To get peace of mind one needs only food but not other things mentioned hence for that food one might not require much money.
There is no difference between richer man’s laugh and poor man’s laugh. Similar is the case with happiness (a feeling in the mind). Richer man’s happiness in 7 star hotels is similar to the happiness of a poor man in the hut. We all struggle to learn, earn and burn money for happiness thinking that more money brings more happiness but happiness cannot be more with money.
In fact minimum money to get all essential body needs fulfilled (to get peace of mind) along with mind control can bring much more happiness that a richest man can buy with money.
A person who can be happier for more hours in lifetime is richer irrespective of his wealth.
Attached happiness with material and people is loose, conditional and is also not eternal. Once the person or object deteriorates or disappears happiness also goes off.
Most liked may become most disliked due to any of the following conditions
Aging of the mind (Boredom),
Aging of Material,
Changing human relations due to Incidents (Conflicts or tragedies)
Our minds are trained to tie our happiness with objects or subjects around.
People from different countries, race and religion were trained to enjoy different varieties of food. If Indian child enjoys eating chicken his Chinese counter part may enjoy frog eating.
So, subjects or objects have become our sources of happiness. In fact happiness cannot be obtained it should be derived. We are trained to derive happiness from the objects or subjects around.
Though I am calling the end result of eating as happiness, in fact it gives a peace of mind.
The objects oriented or contact bound emotion is nothing but a comfort feeling or a feeling of tranquility or satisfaction. Happiness is a superior feeling to this.
To be contd.....
