The mere sight of the newspaper early in the morning makes all of us ecstatic and full of joy, Remember the day when we do not get the newspaper in the morning due to press holiday on the previous day. It takes some time and innumerable queries before we reconcile to the fact that we won't be getting the newspaper. on that day.
In this "e" age where newspapers are available on-line as well, the early morning hard copy if the paper has no substitute.
If reading is a habit then newspaper reading is addiction. Everyone in this country is addicted to this habit in some form or the other.Can you believe that a newspaper having 24 pages can constructively engage 2 dozen people without even tearing a single page apart?
I was just trying to recollect the scene in front of a small tea shop in a village, town or for that matter even in cities. A few privileged ones on the benches with the page of the paper and all the remaining crowd would gather around the one who holds the paper. some reading sitting down on the ground opposite side.Everyone goes through these unique few pages in their own way,based on which they can be categorised in different categories.The 1st,the conventional readers, for them newspaper is a God and reading is religion.They do not believe in sharing their God with any one.They have plenty of time at their disposal, hence they do full justice to their monthly subscription. They are generally the retired pensioners.The next category is the unconventional readers(Pathans) They always start reading from the last page.I have no valid explanation for such a syndrome that why people start reading the last page first.Probably, a habit which got developed in trying to unearth the climax while reading a thriller fiction.These are the people who are in hurry to reach their destinations.The next are"Goal Oriented".The 1st one is the "Intellect"types who believe that the editorial column is the beginning and the need of the newspaper.The next are the "Manics".They can be any of these categories,namely the Page 3, sports, movie, advertisements, share and mutual funds and so on and forth.Their reading is just restricted to their likings and interests.This is a self centered category.For them, news is just a piece of information that
fulfills their needs.
However the most important category is the "Learners", young kids or those who are undertaking some competitive exams. For them,the newspaper is a source of getting well-versed with the nuances of English as well as enhancing their general awareness. I am sure most of us have learned English by the habit of reading newspapers to which we got exposed in our childhood.There is one more category i have noticed is the category which contributes beautiful write ups on various important issues,sharing their experiences through their write up and thereby become most vividly read and enjoyable category.
Unless we read we cannot write. so..come on guys.. share up your thoughts on my 1st post which i have just did after a long break over here..
