| I am happily surprised and very delighted to know that some one remembers Puttanna Kangal and that too in a Telugu website. Putanna is perhaps the most sensitive of all South Indian Directors and his handling of woman oriented themes is unmatched even after two and half decades. His movies Shara panjara(Krishna veni), Gajje Puje(kalyana mantapam), Upasane, Edakallu gutta da mele , Nagarahovu (Kode nagu) ,Belli Moda(Pala Manasulu) are simply the best in their genre. His greatness was that all his films were huge commercial successes inspite of them being offbeat.
Directors like Puttanna do not belong to any state , region or community.Their appeal crosses all borders and boundaries. Thanks are due the writer of the article for drawing attention to the Doyen of Indian Cinema PUTTANNA.
