It is the poltical Bosses who are controlling the current system. Vinodkumar should ask this question, why SC,ST and Muslims are voting for Sonia Gandhi? Without their vote, a foreigner like Sonia will not be in power. All other so called castes are serving Sonia Gandhi. Indirectly it is SC, ST and Muslims are ruling India. If you really want to empower the voters, then let us have a Primary election within the party who should represent the party in general elections. It will bring internal democracy within the party and also force the candidates accountable to peoples problems. The Primary elections will KILL the political Bosses. Vinodkumar, demo gauging the caste is not going to solve our problems. Democratizing the party operations will bring more accountable leaders. Barak Obama rise to the power in USA is a good example. Thnk about it!

Dear Mr Vinod Kumar and Bhaskar,
Both your comments are good and analytical. But one question to all our Indians, what the caste politics contribute to the development of our country. This increase number of Political parties and fractions and segments in the strata across the country. What prabhakar telling is right, there is no development in major chunk of the people from where the leaders are evolving and paving their political strides. The caste leaders are become rich and to some extent they are hijacking the parties with their caste and the parties are giving tickets to them only as they are the rich in the caste to purchase votes. If we examine except tamilnadu nowhere the backward or lower communities are strong in financial and industrial front.
If we take UP scene, what BSP did in the recent elections, they again taking the backup of forward casts like brahmins. And for the last one decade there is no substantial growth in the living standards of Backward and lower communities in UP.(source Human resources ministry recent survey). But mayavathi earned(grabbed/looted) hundreds of crores.
I strongly believe insted of surnames and names the people in India should be given Social security numbers associated with names.

Sir, Its a good article on CAST system and Indian Political system.
I think U focused more on CAST instead of CASH System.
Where ever you see Economically SOUND people are ruling irrespective of CAST.
So, Its not the problem of CAST but its the CASH effect. The so called Leaders belongs to the Backword Casts are becoming RICH and the Poor in their community is becoming POOR.
Earlier KINGS were used to use their Weapons to rule and protect the kingdom, now same KINGS are ruling with weapons-CASH, CAST and LUST. Weapons changed and name changed to DEMOCRACY but not the so called KINGS and KINGDOMS. And most importantly the COMMON MANs' life style didnt changed at all irrespective of CAST.
I appreaciate You for your valuable effort, But MORE focus is required on CAST system and CASH system
