I listened to this , on January 13th 11pm in the year 2002, for the 1st time. I still remember the date and time so much, because I had to finish an important task by 15th of Jan that year, and I wish I could finish the work happily if only i listen to songs while doing my work. As I dint find much time to go out, I requested my Dad to get 2 cassettes for me , 1 is amruta ( as i have expectations on Rahman and Maniratnam combination ) and another is Kalusukovalani ( as i loved devisri prasad's music )
This song u mentoned in Amruta instantanously appelaed to me. It made me think much. But immediately i skipped the song cos thought spoiled my work at that time. Tune wise I loved ' e dEvi varamO } (fem version ) and ' senyore ' ..
After i finished my work I heard this song manytimes.. The way the singer raises his voice when singing ' aasalu samaadhi chEstU ..' is very touching . And i liekd the background score which mimiced the score in pataaLabhairabi film where the hero enters the cave.
I saw Amruta and liked the 1st ha;lf but i dint like 2nd half. I dint like th behaviour of child's character. Ok leave about that.
I like this song.. but to say the best of maniratnam and Rahman's combination listen in IDDARU .. ' unnaanu niiku tODugaa okkokka madhura kshaNam..maraNavELa saitam maravalEni kaavyamidi ' its not a song..justlike a poem.but the background scoring and chorus makes u feel intense emotion.
And there are many such scorings of Rahman whihc will evoke something in u just by music..listen Dil Se. there is a music, whihc is not present in audio cassette. It comes in film occassionally when Sharukh is feeling agony.
ILayaraja and Rahman are the 2 musicinas whi can eoke ur emotions with their music.
