| Atrocity of any kind whether subjecting the man or woman is abhoring and is against the tenets of Hindu religion which is a schism of the original sanatana dharma religion. 'ahimsa paramo dharmah' is the guiding precept. However, the modern society still carries on with its neolithic culture though technology has brought about many changes including the proliferation of media channels thus bringing communication at the doorsteps of many. Social taboos, beliefs, traditional methods of coercion and subjugation to the despotic authority shall have to be condemned. However, it is easier said than done. The simple method of educating the masses is one step which will have only long term effects. One immediate relief process in such atrocious happenings is to devise a mechanism of social legislation that is free from beurocratic hassles and police intervention as well as judicial delays. As a suggestion, the President of India should have an advisory body consisting of only two or three highly progressive social scientists (no NGO participation please)whose job should be to monitor the media as well as other sources to identify blatant misuse of law and harassing the weaker persons specially women and the destitutes. These members should be given high salaries and perks and full powers to grant immediate relief both financially and otherwise to the victims including sustained protection for them. Any objections against such decisions from this authority should not be entertained by judicial processes or police machinery. Their authority shall be final and the president should enjoy full privilege and protection from criticism of any kind either by the media or by individuals as well as political organisation. If at all only supporting comments for such actions shall have to be reported. All the media shall have to follow healthy conventions in protecting the dignity of such victims. The censor board of cinematography shall also ban themes depicting such atrocities as they do not provide any entertainment except disgust. In general any violence is vulgar and shall have to be treated with abhorence by any sane thinking individual....Subbarao Bendapudi
