Articles: My Experience | Fellow Indians, listen please. | |
| Yes, It is really very sad to hear but true.
After all, human being only can smile. So atleast why don't they think in this way. we are going to lose nothing. Suneel gaaru, what you said 'ninne palladatha'..etc can be a bit true when in India, but I don't think, when a person is out of India also expects/thinks like this. I don't accept with this. In that case nobody helps him.
Always better learn good things from anybody else. and smiling is always a smiling. It can never be hypocrate or some thing, if we know the real way of wishing or even power of smile.
Suchitra gaaru.. what you said is correct.
Posted by: Mr. Bhoopal At: 21, Jul 2005 9:15:33 PM IST yes I fully agree with Ms Suchitra. But this is because we are generally hesitant and as far as US is concerned seeing a fellow Indian should not be uncommon.
But many a time I face the same even in Japan where spotting an Indian is rare phenomenon unless you are in Indians dominated locality.
May be we need to live in Sahara desert to expect a smile from a fellow Indian.

Posted by: Mrs. Madhavi Latha Marella At: 25, Jun 2005 10:35:22 AM IST Prbaby Miss Suchitra is talking of Indians in general and in a larger context than just a certain pair. You dont expect every other pair to have conflicts , do you samyukta ? There should be some Indian out there in entire US Indian community you did not fight with.
The queer thing, is Indians dont exchange smiles at all, in here(US). One reason i can think of, especially related to opposite sex with Indians is they take it in the wrong sense. I smiled so many times to gals and all i get was a 'look at yourself in mirror' look, as if with deep disgust !!. On the contrary some of my female friends had the other side of the story to tell , that when they smiled at some Indian guys, the guy would be so happy that he starts imagining 'ninne palladatha'.....'nuvvu leka nenu lenu' and trailing them all over.
Now do you think smiling is just, suchitra garu ???
Posted by: Mr. Suneel Kumar Kanuri At: 29, May 2005 6:37:01 AM IST ms suchitra, why do u have to think always in the same manner....look at the situation frm the others view...maybe those 2 indians dont know each other...or maybe their relations may be much hostile than that with the american..see even people of the same roof cant have similar views and there may be disputes between them but the same people may have perfect co-ordination with someone else outside their roof...when there is no genuinity in each others feelings than it is better to not to smile and walk away on their respective work rather than putting a false smile on their faces.it is better to be straightforward rather than be hypocrates.so be an optimist and take things lightly..
