I would like to make the following clarification :
The train Krishna Express is one of the series of trains named after rivers. Godavari & Pinakini are some more.
I should have been more specific in saying it with
the elongated (deergha) vowel as 'Krishnaa'. Then as it is a deergha word, it would have indicated the femininity/(feminineness?) of that name.
As per traditional thinking, rivers flowing from West to East are distinguished as nadis and 'branded' as feminine ('nadee' in sanskrit).
On the other hand, rivers like Narmada, Sindhu etc., which flow from East towards West are 'branded' as masculine ('nada' in sanskrit & the same becomes 'nadamu' in telugu).
I am glad that a petty joke did evoke a response from a knowledgeable reader!
Hope I could drive home my point.
Satya Rama Prasad
