Articles: My Thoughts | Adapting to a new culture | |
| Hi Manjari,
Nice article.
The days and trends are changing and its upto people how they act.
All these days they used to think I'm a frog in the well and now they want to discover the world by coming out of the well.
The real fight will be only when the frog comes out of the well and see the real dangers like, there are people walking who can stamp them, there are eaters (snakes, human).
Same, if Indians are living outside India specially in west, this is a challenging.
Require more attension on Kids, will be fight with teenagers, suspects begans amoungs partners (husband and wife).
I feel for next 10-20 years there will be struggle for indians staying in West or abroard.
No wounder, you can see the below cases
1) Teenagers will have bf/gf's (with whites)
2) Husband and wife will have affairs (with whites) and divorse rate increases
This will comes down slowly when Indian population increases in west and when it becomes 2nd India.
cheers
Mahendra

I am a teenager living in America...I go to college and see how bad it is...i mean i am not into tradition and culture and stuff like that.. u might be a little surprised that I actually take time to read articles on some telugupeople.com...I totally agree with u cause i have seen a lot of people doing it. But being a teenager myself,,i think its how you are raised. I have been living here for quite a while and nothing has really changed my life except from learning by looking at other's experiences..it just makes me think better day by day...i do think that parents shouldn't be linient about boyfriends and getting their kid's hearts broken..cause at the end of the day,,,,they will come back to them and parents should suffer with the kids as well.............and most certainly i hate the ones that say 'hey,,,idhi india kadhu..idhi america...plzzzzzzzz............'

Your feelings and concerns are genuine.
But I doubt if anybody will change after reading these kind of articles. In fact, this trend is increasing. I saw a Telugu movie recently where a married man and woman run away from their homes to get re-married (Srikant and Raasi - I don't remember the name of the movie). Sameway, Telugu TV serials are encouraging these kind of thoughts.
The otherday, I heard of a friend's friend - whose wife got a white boy friend in USA and forced his husband to give her divorce. The husband now went back to India.
A faminist writer, who is also my friend, supported this saying - 'so far the men ruled the world, and now it's going to be the women's world'. I don't know what to say... Her argument is - 'why people cry about the social values when a woman does this? what these people did when men cheated their wives officially for generations?'. She has a point.
Now, another angle is: the world is no more society centered - it's converting as individual based. Nobody cares about society, and everybody thinks about themselves and people behave independently.
I am sure the individual trend will continue in India and women will just become as nasty and selfish as men by next generation (in 10 years). Then, only demand and supply will dictate the terms. Men will ask their 'would be's to sign marriage contracts and property agreements. There will be women who just try to get married for money.
If you or me try to preach, people will not listen... what west is experiencing now, we are going to experience all that in the next 10 to 20 years.
I pray god to give all Indians ability to withstand as individuals!
