I agree with Srilatha. Infact, I would like to quote a sentence from 'Living with the Himalayan Masters'.
'The British tried to spread a new culture based on Christian faith. But they did not succeed, largely for two reasons. First reason is most of the people in India live in villages and the second reason is women are the custodians of culture values and faith in India.'
So women do have their respect in the Indian society. The fact that we produced world's second lady PM is a testimony to the fact.
