I think you are mis-lead by the Telugu movies. Friendship can also break - it is not an exception. Love and friendship are more are less the same. There is love between friends also. I think you mean to say that love means 'lovers or a couple planning to get married.'
I know many close friends separated because of so many mis-understandings etc. I have seen many examples.
I can think of one reason for your logic...
In Friendship, people live separately and away from each other. So, it will continue. But if they both start living together or start doing things together (such as business etc.), then they will also fight. The same problem happens between wife and husband or lovers, because they live together for a long time.
There is an english proverb that says:
'Too much intimacy can lead to either contempt or pregnancy'. Please note that all proverbs are said with a lot of experience.
Anyway, good expression and keep writing more!
