Being in this country, born in this country and living in this country and working for this country - the muslims are still being treated as slaves and third class citizens. I know Guntur, so, I can understand more about your feelings. It is really shame on our society and the country that some people are ill-treated.
I have a true close friend - a Muslim from Vijayawada, so, I can understand muslims feelings in a much better way than most of my other hindu friends.
It's all the bullshit politicians who are making all this non-sense.
I am really glad and happy to read this poem, because, if the muslims can come out and express their feelings like this, the ordinary hindus can understand and the relations will build-up. I can tell one thing... if you talk and express what you think - the mis-understandings will go away. If you don't talk and think the other person is bad, the mis-understanding will continue to grow.
At present, there are so many mis-understandings in the general public.
I hear some comments such as:
Hindus say:
Muslims are always like this and they create problems... (which is terribly a bad statement and absolutely wrong)
Muslims think:
We should take revenge on these fellows (hindus). We must celebrate if Pakistan wins in the Cricket. We all know the muslim youth celebrating Pakistan's winning of the cricket in villages - this is because of total ignorance and lack of guidance from the muslim leaders / elders in the village.
One more thing...
When congress plenary sang the Vandemataram in full, they tried to give an explanation. Why any muslim leader didn't come forward and say that Vandemataram is a national song and not a hindu song? What happened to these muslim leaders?
These politicians - whether they are muslims, christians or hindus, they are same. YS is a Christian, but goes to Temples whenever needed. But why not an ordinary person? All hindu politicians goes to Ramzan dinners - but why they provoke their people against muslims?
See, it is foolishness to blame these stupid politicians. And it is stupidity to expect that these people will change the situation in our country. 'We', yes, 'we, the educated youth who are on the internet' should try and work hard to change the situation. Let's do it.
I welcome muslim and christian friends to actively participate in general community events. In San Jose TANA (in 2003), I remember one incident.
TP.com displayed T-Shirts with Charminar image on them in their stall. A group of 5/6 guys came to the stall and asked why did you printed a muslim symbol on the T-Shirt? They shouted louder and asked 'is there any muslim in this entire TANA' meeting? They are not coming, why do you care about them?
I was there at the time listening to Prasad, TP founder. He tried to explain that Charminar is not a muslim symbol alone, but it is a symbol of Hyderabad and our State, Andhra Pradesh. But he has no answer for their question - 'why there is no muslim in TANA'?
Similarly, Christians in New Jersey goes to a Telugu Church, but they never attend the Telugu Fine Arts Society (TFAS) meetings. Do the Telugu Christians think that their Arts and Culture is different from Telugu Arts and Culture? What a pity?
So, my dear muslim and christian brothers, please come forward and participate in telugu community events and talk / write more in websites like this... then, the mis-understandings will go away...
