Hey Folks, I just landed into this ocean of thoughts..... What I feel from all this is--we can only assume and never understand from within. I think we should talk more about modern India/Culture. I am not a philosopher nor an expert in the subject. These are just my views. India had a long long history..where many things happend over period of time..There were Gods..there were Rishis....There were Kings...There were thinkers and philosophers. All of them had their preachings or interpretation of teachings. Which again were understood by common man in their own terms. Hence there is conflict of openion. I agree religion cannot be debated over. It should be more discussed to understand the messages. Comming to modern times....we have foreign invaders turned rulers turned citizens. As in any land we have all the age groups..and sexes. Can there be a unique law for all and one that satisfies all? That is tough. Let us concentrate on realities. I think we should take this all as history and stop debating over this.... In modern times..the best thing that happened to India, in my openion, is probably the constitution..which declares "all equal". Let us talk from there. There is nothing called perfect. If we think with open mind..any successful project starts with a good project plan. We can take our constitution as one such plan. How well it is implemented is up to us. We infact are the architects of the nation. Our collective behavior and practices is our culture for people outside this circle. IF we treat everyone equality and respect, all it takes is one generation to transform this nation. Yes women are suffering...children are exploited, old are not taken care of..some places the so called Sudras are illtreated. But I am still happy that this is diminishing. If there is anything of these sought happening ...our social activists and journalists take them to task. See.. we have already come out of the system. It was not like this few decades ago. Comming to corruption...this is need based thing...no one can just wipe it out...it is a slow process. Though every one of us have suggestions..for eradication of corruption...we may be frustrated fighting it. Let us be practical..Let us not curse our culture for what we are facing. Let see forward..let us see 20 or 50 years down the time...as developed and socially matured lot. I think the reason for the tough responses to Mr Velavartipati is...most of the people on this board..love the culture and do not belong to the lot which the author is speaking about. They are generally from the groups which have friends from all backgrounds..they may have some working women in their family/friends..they are people who treat women with respect and honour. These are just my very own thoughts. I do not intend to provoke any one and neither deny any comments....
