I like to tell a quotation from Mahatma Gandhi-'there is enough for every body's need but not greed'- There is a special branch of study to analyze and study human behavior relating to their purchasing habits called as - 'Consumer Behavior' under management studies-being a management post graduate and a faculty for some time-teaching even the consumer behavior as one of my specializations- I like tell you with utmost confidence that in our age of 'free enterprise' and corporates-human behavior and its dark areas are being studied mainly in USA for manipulating the consumers into buying those things which infact they don't need.Even Nobel prizes were given for those 'scientists' who studied the consumer behavior as if they are studying animals in a laboratory.. I sincerely suggest you to read a book called 'The Hidden Persuaders' written by Vance Packard (now available in Akshara book shop in Banjara hiils- if at all you are in Hyderabad)- this book explains the ways and means of manipulation that are being used by the corporate advertisers-alluring people to buy needless things.
Not only goods and services are being pushed through the throat of the massess but even our ideas and minds are being controlled by the corporates for their gain-read for example 'Manufacturing Consent' by Noam Chomsky..
Regarding the matter of money and its easy availabilty- I like to bring to your notice that in our world of ' abundance' more than 100 crore people live -below one dollar a day- this poverty is on the rise after globalization process began-so what people we are talking about-the stinking rich and the evaporating middle class-if that is who we are talking about- I am sorry I can't agree with your comments about money...
