Great to see your article in TP.com!
As you said, Swedish population is very small, but their language is very strong. Every single company produces user guide, and literature for all of their products in Swedish.
In my opinion, all this is because of our economic situation. In Andhra Pradesh, people are learning English for Jobs and for survival. There is a lot of competetion in the job market and it is forcing them to forget Telugu totally. Market forces are making people to learn English and there is no other alternative. When people are rushing for survival, we cannot ask them to think about language, it's survival and self respect etc.
In Sweden people need not learn other languages for their survival.
I would compare our situation with the Palamoor labour. Palamoor labour migrated to other places for survival. Middle class educated youth are migrating to USA for better jobs and more money. Similarly, people are migrating to other languages.
We can stop this migration only if our economic situation improves. But, I have no high hopes on this. In this computer age, people are finding it difficult to type in Telugu - other than Telugupeople.com, all other Telugu sites are in English and English-only discussion boards.
I have a small hope that Telugu will never die - just because of one reason. We have enough number of people who have self-respect and self-esteem. And there are sites like TP.com which make people learn Telugu in the internet age. I am surprised to see so many young people chatting and discussing in DB in Telugu script here. I don't think all these people will stop teaching Telugu to their kids.
