! KASHMIR issue...........Wht shud India do?! ..Wht shud India do?! Well..for me there appears two Paths. One is legal and lenghty one and the other is the short but sturdy one. If India wants to go legally, as it has been going onnnnn since independence,I dont see any solution to the Kashmir problem in the near future.India doesnt have economic clout in the world trade and consequently has no political clout as well, and few developed countries lend their ears to our domestic problems like Kashmir. To make the world countries listen to India on any issue,India must gather economic strength...then only Uncle Sam and others wud listen to it.Otherwise nobody bothers. But unfortunately India ,DESPITE HER BEST EFFORTS,cudnot progress economically tooo far due to its peculiar socio-economic problems like illeteracy, poverty, unemployment, corrupt politicians..wht not??.If India cud become an economic superpower b4 Pakis cud do it(definitely they are far behind us in this regard),then India can simplay CLAIM kashmir by placing its hand on it.Nobody wud utter a word!At the moment India is fearing of economic and other technological sanctions from USA and other developed countries(remember ??.,Our POKRAN Nuclear blasts attracted many sanctions..) to take any drastic step like declaring war on PAK to claim Kashmir.thats coz India BADLY needs foreign investment and international loans from world bank and other foreign institutions for running its welfare programmes and other developemental works. So INDIA has been hesitating and vascillating all along since its independence. So I wud say KASHMIR is an economical problem rather than a political problem, when seen from this prespective. How bigger are South korea or Japan compared to India in SIZE?!they are just like a tiny state of India..but purely coz of their economic clout and their share in the world trade(esp Japan) they opposed several times USA etc and stopped them from having their own way on several occations on sevral international issues(I will have to dig up history if U want me to substantiate on it).so GET BACK TO BASIC ECONOMICS to solve all ur problems.(but this route wud definitely take a long long time..pch..).so there is no solution to kashmir problem in the near future..pch..so the blood bath in KASHMIR continues.Be it the Lahore bus yatra of PM or the latest political 'INITAITIVE',they are all just for the consumtion of public and to some xtent topacify USA which has been poking in India's ribs. The other sturdy stubborn and bold way is to scrap the Article 370 which provides special status to J&K....and Shout to the world that 'Kashmir is part and parcel of INDIA..if anybody opens their mouth..we wud kick them out'And then declare war on PAK and if necessary (first try diplomacy with china )on CHINA as well to recover Kashmir beyond LOC and also that part GIVEN to China by PAK.But in India our petty politicians are more worried about their own comfort and warmth..and so they wud never dare do such SILLY things which do not benefit them in any which way.Ofcorse India needs to think twice b4 goin to such war..coz war means war..and its consequences..rising prices and chaos everywhere. But frns..if only India were STRONG ECONOMICALLY,it wud have burried kashmir issue looong long ago...even b4 most of us were born.Wht say?! Look @ what had happend in IRAQ.whatever may b the motives of USA(either oil fields or Weapons of Mass Destruction or just to get some say in domestic politics..God knows),wht it has done despite Global opposition?!Can India ever act like that on any issue ,if not now, say 100 yrs from now?!I wonder...and am waiting for such moment! Thanks for listening to my blaw blaw..;) I submitted this as anarticle too..yet to b published

Some how the US factor is fascinating. When we are aware that a mighty force is heading towards us with a mighty plan. The best bet would be to let loose the topic a bit so that it can not implement it's designs. We all know US has interests in India but a softer corner for Pakistan. This in fact is a major factor for India not allowing USA more room to play. After Afghan-Iraq episode and some news items pointing Kashmir as the next area of action...I think it was diplomatically necessary to liquidate greater designes of USA playing a major role in this very personal issue. CIA might already have a design..which is more likely to be favourable to Pakistan. It is also likely that Indian Foreign office has knowledge of this. It may be very difficult to change the course of developments once USA starts implementing. We know USA uses all its tactics that include and not limited to Diplomacy, Spies, Money and Military. Having known this...what India could do to stop this from realization is to give an impression of development in Ind-Pak ties. This impression will stop USA from earning the points necessary to make a hard entrance into the issue. I feel this is exactly what is happening in this case. Now, all USA could do is to encourage the process and nothing more. And I feel...there infact is no process for now. But India can certainly take off from the outcome of this stage managed process if it has some meat in it. Wait and see...

I agree with the article..and I appreciate the content. To add.. I am in USA right now.. Before and during the Iraq war..it was an obvious topic for discussion all the way. I came across very very few people who were in favour of war. But the point to be noted was...they were always with President Bush when it really meant. I am not praising a nation..but trying to take the point that how much difference it makes when the world thinks that the country supports the President. I think we should follow this. When a sensitive foreign policy issue is being addressed....we(one and all) should throw our weight with the Prime Minister. I see every group giving their own openion which is good as a Democracy but that may give a chance to people outside the country to question our unity regarding the PM's decision. We should give the world an openion that when PM of India speaks...its the whole country speaking with him. Correct me if I am giving this issue a wrong direction!! Thanks
