Very nice to see your book review article. I'm going to buy & read it.
Numerous people have written first-hand experiences on how MNCs and the Bretton Wood financial institutions such as IMF, WB etc. are destabilizing the world ecology, economy, civilization etc. through their practices so as to quench their hunger for more and more wealth.
More than 12 years ago, one Mr. Davidson L Budhoo, who was the head of IMF for Caribbean region, wrote a book named, 'Enough is enough dear Mr. Michael Camadessus'. This book was actually an open resignation letter written by Davidson to Camadessus, the then IMF chief. In this book, he made lots of revelations on how IMF destabilized nations through its practices.
In my view, it's of no use in reading these books and hoping that somebody would solve all these problems. The best and most immediate effect that we can make is through our own actions. Change should start from us.
As much as possible we need to avoid using goods and services sold by corporate companies, be they are Indian or foreign, which do not respect human rights, ecology and sustainability. We need to encourage small scale industries instead. Our lifestyles should be as much less consumer-oriented as possible. Thus, we can save the ecology too.
As long as we are buying goods and services of MNCs, they will have enough money to influence and manipulate the decision-makers. They are making this money only through people like us.
We can make lots of difference through our actions.
