Articles: My Thoughts | Are we Civilized? | |
| U knw Ratnakar gaaru iam a one year married girl, my inlaws bless as only 'suputra prapthiraasthu' and asks me to pray only for male child. My Mother-in-Law being a lady wants a grandson and she doesn't want grand daughters. Male offspring will be 'Vamsodharakudu' blah blah. I get very irritated sometimes with those kindoffa people. In my family we r 2 sisters my father being the first son in his family never showed any discrmination in bringing up us nor he never had regrets that he doesn't have son. Me and my sister have settled better than all the male offsprings in our family.
Thnx for writing such a good article.

If you people are thinking of a social movement then count me in. I shall do whatever I can.
Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 2, Oct 2006 11:16:42 AM IST Ignorance can lead to many forms of behaviour; sometimes very cruel.
We even find small children being cruelly put an end to, inorder to,'propitiate gods'.
Unless there is a huge amount of effort, especially in terms of removal of ignorance and education in human values i.e.respect for life, sensitivity to peoples feelings etc, the situation in our country is not likely to improve.
Posted by: Mr. Rajman Soman At: 30, Sep 2006 9:03:53 PM IST Thanks all for comments. Unfortunately this is not just a rural issue. Many so called educated, urban people are also indulging in this practice. Southern part of Delhi, is supposed to be richest and most educated part of India, shockingly, this also has the lowest sex ratio in country. In fact things are so bad in Delhi, that clinics have put up notices saying pre natal scans wont be allowed, and many clinics have been sealed off. Again Punjab has a very high literacy ratio, but also the worst sex ratio. The less said about Haryana the better.
I have seen this tendency even amongst supposedly educated people, and in fact the article was aimed at them.
Posted by: Mr. Ratnakar Sadasyula At: 29, Sep 2006 11:50:06 AM IST Your article is really awesome. Being a father of one little daughter, I can truly accept your comments. As a educated you have broad vision to see the globe. But people who are living rural areas and bound to bloody dowry system makes the people in false way. we have to condemn this strongly.
Manam icche message baaga lotugaa rural janaalaki vellali. Not for the urban people. And Print Media and TV media also should support more to eradicate this abortions(So called KILLING).
Posted by: Mr. SRIKANTH KONDETI At: 29, Sep 2006 1:53:23 AM IST Ratnakar garu,
Good article andi. Well said andi. Some sections in our society are not so civilized to consider baby boy or baby girl to be as one & the same. Even know we see in rural areas in our State too, this type of discrimination.
Once again I thank you for giving us a nice article
thanx
