Mr .Balaji Iam sorry to oppose your views not just as a person who has been to abroad ...as a person who has seen the conditions at both ends. The driving factor to go abroad is not just money it is the feel of cutting edge technology. You can say India has better technology...may be that is in IT.Not in other fields .Even India has got reputation in IT and its products after our engineers migrated to USA.India benifited thenjust due to brain drain. If you dont have any land to do agriculture, it does n"t matter how better quality seeds you have. The same case is happening in India and causing Brain drain.Imagine ,could it have possible to Sabir Bhatia to develop hotmail site which we are enjoying now unless he had been to USA. About luxury I dont think anybody feel happy even if he is staying in five star hotel eating bread n butter and leaving their home, parents, friends.Dont worry Iam quite sure 95% of the people who are going for short term jobs , who will return after finishing of their tenure and they must have to return.Even they do not return no need to worry because this great land of wisdom never felt the scacity for qualified people.

Mr Balaji, If the NRIs arent actually contributing significantly for the development of their country, what about the Indians in India? Are they just sitting ducks waiting for a NRI Messiah to come and solve their problems/issues? "the problem will not be solved simply u go to us n u earn something for u" ? Indians in India are earning too, infact earning for themselves. What is the significance of their contribution to the country? Bottomline: Think collectively in what ways an 'INDIAN' can contribute to the country rather than blaming either the NRI community or the INDIANS in India.

Mr. Balaji .. Yeah its really a good thought provoking article. i agree with u upto some extent. i have gone through all the responces until now...i have seen many NRIs trying to blame govt. directly r indirectly bcoz of corruption politics r some other reason..so if they r having a good will to serve the nation then why dont they try n clean those things... i want to share some of my own personal things..i have attended interviews for some of the positions in govt firms..but no where I noticed that the use r success of recommedations...and the people whoever got r really worth getting those jobs..i think the recommedations n all created by certain ppl who r unable to through those interviews n the ppl who want to use corruption as a tool to cover their inability to do the interview well. so i didnt came a across a situation where a candidate with recommendation given preference to that of a really worthful n intelligent candidate in any govt firms like bhel, hal, drdo etc... and i want to give responce to some more comments... 1.There are tons of NRIs who run chartable institutions and offshore development centers in India, thus generating employment. --- this type of statements we have to give only if we know the exact numbers, no tonnes r millions r not there but only 5 to 10% of nris r doing this, 2.There are influential NRIs in the US who do a lot of lobbying for India to affect changes in US's foreign policy as and when required. This goes a long way in increasing India's standing in the world matters. -----wat the US govt r those lobbies has done when their economy dropped..did they changed their policies to keep the nris in job..no they have just removed hundreds of nris mercilessly frm job...who came back to india n which created a severe unemployment 3.How do you think major companies like IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, GE have set up base in India ? Its because of the impression NRIs have created in the business community here. -----hahaha this they r doing to hire the labour cheaply..they got this when nris r working cheaply in US...n they found that they can get still cheaply if they r able to invest in india..so they r investing... 4.Don't forget the foreign currency which is flowing into India, which obviously is improving the economy. ---this is not improving the huge economy definitely its just a part... so please come out of those illusions n try to apply something to make india free frm wat ever u think is spoiling the nation...the problem will not be solved simply u go to us n u earn something for u.

I agree with most of the views Mr Balaji has aired in this article, but before put this question of What have u done? to Motherland, Mr Balaji should have thrown some light on the plight of the intelligenstia that has migrated to other sides of the world, there are many aspects he should keep in mind the political scenario, the oppurtunities available, and the redtapism, etc, iam not making a comment against this article since iam in galway on project work, but i wonder an intellectual like Balaji should not have skipped many important aspects which would answer all the remarks he had made,to be patriotic is not a crime, it will be always there in minds of all NRi's, i would like to know will the present scenario ever let a NRI who comes with a objective to do something in return to his mother will ever let him go ahead, though there are many thing which boasts that they encourage the NRI's,i have a few apprehensions in these matters,I could not make out onr thing , does Mr Balaji if he is some where in abroad would do the same thing of Questioning or appealing the NRI's , there is a telugu saying Durrapu Kondalu nunnupu, i have certaian reservations in this aspect, even i was in the same frame of mind when i was in hyderabad, though i am here for a couple of months on a project, i could realise the apathies of NRI's.i feel one has no right to Question , but can appeal or pledge for such deeds.I make a final note that these comments are my personal views and were not to critcise this article.good luck and cheers regards Murthy .

ok balaji kati garu This is only my idea. I dont mean to let anyone down. you oppose that all of us who came here are not doing anytthing for motherland can you tell me how can we serve our mother land being there in india. there are lot more engineers doctors and people with all other professions still in India. What are they doing being there? And what are we not doing being here? we are earning lot of money being here. and only because we are here. If we are in India where are the jobs for us? we are serving mother land by going away from it atleast another unemployee will get an employment, if we leave that job and come here. There are lot more ' more intelligents' in India compared to us who are dedicated to the mother land, Why dont you all start something to serve the mother land in better way and guide us so that we all follow your foot steps. Dear Mr.Balaji Kati garu me Desha bhakthi , desam kosam me avedana prsamsaneyam. ……………….mee article chadivaka meeku okaa veshyam chepadalachukuna nu. I don’t think any damage has occurred to our motherland because of our citizens working in other countries. In fact the world understood that Indians are highly talented and hardworking than any others. This has brought new technologies and lot of job opportunities to our people. Indirectly our economy has strengthened due to increase in our foreign reserves. Long back I read in some magazine that economic status of Kerala people has improved tremendously because lot of gulf money is coming in to the state. This is not only with Kerala , even some parts of Andhra Pradesh, like Godavari Districts. Do you know how much money has been flooded into Gujarath when the nature has shattered the state? The main reasons why India is not able to become a superpower is : Kula rajkiyam, matha rajakiyam, politics, corruption( at all levels), no control on population growth and most important is directly or indirectly 90% of the citizens of India. Like this many more evil powers are damaging our reputation and growth. Ela chepukuntu pothe chala karanalu……………….. As you rightly said 'DON'T BE PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN, FEEL PROUD ONLY IF YOU DO SOMETHING TO INDIA'” .Every one should develop strong inner feeling that I should do some thing for my country, set a target and serve. I would like to add those golden words here : “E DESAMEGINA ENDUKALIDINA POGADARA NE THALLI BHUMI BARATHI NI” pogadatamokate kadu………..prathi okaram manasa , vacha , karamana ….. aacharana lo petali…….. This is very good initiative in right time. There is nothing to hurt anybody.

I can understand the seriousness of the issue. Every NRI must and should think about it. What we are doing to our motherland and what we can do it for our country. We really start thinking on it. I agree with Mr. Balaji People use to call our country 'sone ki chidia'. Now its history. We look forward with a commitment to do some for our country. From so many years our people settled down here in good positions. They has to come out to do some for their birth country. Coming to me I am ready to do something what is possible to me. And nothing is there to hurt the people in Balaji article. We must congratulate him for such a nice article. And I also agree with Miss Prashanthi that we have to make an issue to be voted in this site. Jaihind

This topic really touched me a lot. I want to share some more ideas. Being in the foreign land, they can realised the greatness of the mother nation, they can understand the value of our culture, our tradition etc., And also they can observe the foreign culture and behaviour in the close quarters, they can really understand the good and bad of their culture. They become the blend of the good qualities in both the cultures. In fact, I am not wrong if I say that they are more patriotic than the people living in India itself. They actively discuss the election process. They try to converge and form committees of Indian people to uphold our values and unity and to be helpful to everyone.(Very evident of the no. of associations in various countries) Also if she has not been to US, can Kalpana Chawla, go to SPACE and work there? We can know and learn the scientific advancements also. If not the support of NRIs, our Foreign Currency Level might fall to very low accounts. At the time of Kargil War also, it is because of these people, we could maintain stability. For the people who decide to come, also can't get enough support from their family members. Even if they come, they have to face lot of rumours on them. I can give three examples: 1. Dr. Kakarla Subbarao,Chief of NIMS,(I suppose, if not please correct me). 2. Managing Director of Santha Biotechniques Ltd.(Inventor of the vaccine to Hepatitis B) 3. One couple who are well-off in America, came back , attempted and selected to Indian Civil Service. Both the couple got IAS.(Collector ranks). My neighbour aunty said to me that his brother who stayed abroad like India very much and invest a lot of amount in Enron Project. But he faced loss. He is still interested to invest in India but his children who were born and broughtup in America, strongly oppose and criticize our political leaders and the governance. One thing I want to emphasize here. Those couple who give birth to their children in foreign lands and brought them up there should take every care to inculcate respect in them for their mother land. These people faced many comments.Ofcourse, the last ones only from their family members. To serve the nation is not an easy thing. One must have strong determination to the motto and should work against all odds. Those who are truly dedicated to the country, just serve it. They don't care the applause and the critics and rumours on them. They try to involve as many people as possible in their work. But continue even if no one supports them. So going abroad is not a bad one. But we should try in every way to do something to the country. In the same way, People here staying in India also should serve the country. I want to stress one more thing. First of all, we must settle and we must live on our own. Then do something for the country. Being good and self-sustained is the first service we should do to the country.

Mr Balaji, I can understand what you say. But I cant agree with you. I dont know a lot abt economics, but I remember a few of my economics lessons in high school. One of them says "The best thing any country can export is service". Though hard to digest, it is a fact that India is not in a position to invest enough money to make the best out of its resources. Let me put it like this: When you cant setup a company of ur own, u have to work for somebody else until u earn enough money. May be I am wrong, but selling our service to USA is good for our country. But investing "OUR MONEY" in USA is definitely a loss. That shouldnt be done and usually doesnt happen. Most NRIs prefer investing in India. And also give a consideration to how much NRIs are contributing to our foriegn exchange. Usually students here wire atleast $3000 in addition to what they bring from their homes even before they graduate and start working. We have to bring as much money in to India and let not a penny go out of it. No matter where u work and who is getting rich of ur talent. You are doing the best u can do. If u sit idling in India you are wasting so much money for India.
