Lezz have a competition ... you convince one Andhra Muslim to give up Arabic and use only Telugu at Masjids, let someone else take the responsibility of making Christians pray only in Telugu at the Churches and I will convince one Hindu to give up Sanskrit use Telugu at Temples... Ready?

Reddy garu, OOPS I thought I posted a looong message but alas couldnt find it ... Newayz, requesting our people to use our Language is definitely appreciated - I am 110% with you on that - but the problem is with the way you are doing it (by spreading hatred against Sanskrit). Every author has his/her own objectives and one cant expect every piece of literature to reach everyone. Each script has its own set of audiences and all. There is nothing wrong in using Telugu Mantras at temples - this would help the cuse of the language as well as the religion. If at all I can do something on this issue, I will definitely do it, as long as it does not amount to insulting other languages or scholars (ie as long as we take pride in our Telugu and work for its development). All it takes it some dedication and hardwork - maybe one can build a very small temple and propagate this idea. This will continue if people accept it and it will be dumped if they reject the idea. PS: But why only temples? Doesnt it apply to Mosques where Andhra Muslims can pray in Telugu instead of Arabic? Or even Christians who can pray in Telugu completely?

Mr. Rowdy, I am living in a Glass house? How? Asking people to use our language is not throwing mud at others. Theta telugu words are accha(pure) telugu words understood by masses in krishna, karnool and nalgonda with some exceptions. My position is to use other language words only if we don't have our own words, and also spell them according to our script. Author's goal is to reach out as many people as possible by writing in a language that is understood by all. I don't think Prabhandhalu was written to reach out masses. I hope you are not aganist using Telugu prayers in temples?

Madhusudhan, Insulting you is not insuting 10 crore Telugu people - Dont try to hide behind 10 crore people now - People know their preferences and they DONT NEED Linguistic Fanatics in the masks of pseudo reformers like you. ______________________________________ Rubbing sanskrit on their noses every day _______________________________________ LOOOLZ .. this is where you stand exposed again!!!Did I ever say Sankrit should be spoken mandatorily? All I said was that the Author should have the freedom to choose his language and style .. (I just said I like Sanskrit but never asked others to use it) .. ON THE CONTRARY YOU ARE TRYING TO RUB YOUR TETA TENUGU OR PETA TENUGU OR WHATEVER, ON OTHERS ... Havent you heard the saying about the people living in the Glass houses? So better check your own position before you throw mud on the others. I am not like the decent gentlemen over here who just ignored you .. I can counter your stupidity with my absolute stupidity!!!

Dear Saleem, Krishna Mohan Rao has suggested 29 and I can go from 37 to 34. In Krishan mohan list we are missing 'sunna', 'ksha', 'sha'. In Mahabharatha, Drona refused to teach Ekalavya archary becuase he was not a kshatria. Are we going to honor Drona today? Hell No! Sanskrit poets injured telugu language immensely for over 1000 years. We have every right to criticize and and change the direction. Language is more important than religion in society. Is God asking us to pray only in Sanskrit? No! God supposed to know even animal languages. Malakpet Rowdi, I may be insulting few dead poets, but you are insulting 10 Crore living Telugu people by rubbing sanskrit on their noses every day. Telugu people had enough and they will rise and take back their language!

All the other letters we loaned from sanskrit,Can you tell me why and what was the need ____________________________________________________ Dont you look at this as a part of transformation too? Why cant it be considered innovative way to use Sankrit as a topping for any of the Indian Languages - for that matter even English .. the words like 'GURU' and 'MANTRA' are now widely used in English for the purpose of adding charm, even though there are alternatives available in English and I am not aware of any English scholar raising objections to the usage of those words... My opinion here is simple - Leave the choice of the language to the author - if one wants to develop ones own version of Telugu, one is definitely welcome ... but that one has to acknowledge that it was ones version of Telugu and its upto the people to accept or reject it, for the people has the right to reject something it doesnt like!

He used only 29 alphabets that were widely used, instead of 52+4. He presented his paper in World Literacy Conference in white house. He was only india and one of the 2 asians, who were selected. Anyone has any details about his work? ____________________________________________________ Did he ever abuse Sankrit or the ancient Telugu Scholars in order to justify his techniques?

Agreed, every language undergoes changes .. but you tell me one thing Saleem, how many languages exist on earth which are not influenced by one or more alien languages? Is it proper to abuse Sanskrit and the people who used it and link everything to the Aryan Dravidian theory jsut because Telugu is influnced by it? Who is stopping you from using pure telugu words if you really want to? But it would be really ridiculous if you abuse others for using Sanskrit in your essay and you end up using the same Sanskrit in the same essay. Nannaya belonged to 11th century and going by your own info, Telugu Language had only 36 letters in the 19th century ( Chinnaya Suri existed inbetween 1809 and 1862 AD) .. so how fair is it to blame Nannaya for Sankritizing Telugu?

I am neither a linguist nor understand war of languages. I have few questions chewing my mind here. Are those words listed in page 1 are all telugu words? If they are, what are their etymologica roots? For me most of them look like loaned words from other language. How and why would it matter, If people, who are un-touched with foriegn language influenece, cannot pronounce those loaned words properly? In my opinion language is dynamic, it undergoes changes and reforms continuously depending on social, economical and culutural spectrum of one's time. Telugu has many influences too, mostly by sanskrit and urdu and english. But that influence is a way bit more in telugu than in any other language. Telugu has tatsamamulu, tadbhavamulu,dESyaalu, anyadESyaalu, graamyaalu. All the loaned words undergo changes, thatswhy we have tadbhavamulu and prakRuti-vikRutulu. So correcting loaned words would be herculean task, becuase most of the words were tenugised or went through many variations. I can point out so many wrong words which are in usage currenttly. So, Who decides what are 'correct' telugu words? are these part of vaaDuka bhaasha or simply 'SishThya vyaavaahaarikamu#? How much of standardisation done in telugu? How much active is adhikaara bhaasha sanghamu in this regard? Does it represent all maanDaleekamulu or taken from a particular widely accepted one? Whenever we talk about telugu vyaakaraNamu we start from paraavastu chinnayasoori. At his time, telugu had only 36 alphabets. None of the alphabets has letters with vattulu, but 'La' was part of telugu. All the other letters we loaned from sanskrit,Can you tell me why and what was the need, if not just only for kaavya bhaasha? How much of vaaDuka bhaasha at that time taken into consideration? Regarding literacy , recently a program by Dr. C. Krishna Mohan Rao, Director of Adult education, Govt. of Andhrapradesh, had humangous success rate and got recognition world wide. He used only 29 alphabets that were widely used, instead of 52+4. He presented his paper in World Literacy Conference in white house. He was only india and one of the 2 asians, who were selected. Anyone has any details about his work? I know those are too many questions and may or may not related to this particular eassay, but thought just putting in. And I do not follow this website regularly,If these has been already discussed somewhere here, just point me to it. PS: phalakam ni 'palaka' chEsukunnadi palakalEkanEnaa?

If you have better ideas how to advance Telugu langauge and the pride of the Telugu people say it. Don't hide behind Sanskrit and criticize. Our society can't afford to have 50% illiterate people 60 years after independance ____________________________________________________ Exactly! Dont you think people like you are responsible for for so may illeterates in our society ... the pseudo reformers like you hiding behind Witzel's and Romila's false propaganda to criticize something you dont like? If you dont like Sankrit Manthras then build your own temple, create your own stupid teta tenugu or 'peta tenugu' manthras and do whatver you want to do -nobody cares two hoots ... It is a matter of common sense that it's the deevasthaanam (YES, I TAKE PRIDE IN USING SANSKRIT, IF YOU DONT LIKE IT ... I DONT GIVE A DAMN) that has all the rights to define what should go on in a temple .. people who dont like that are welcome to stay away ... Who is hiding behind a wall and throwing stones at Sanskrit? You or Her? Who is running away from the questions posed after being exposed? You or Her? A friend of mine uses 90% of filthy language in his daily life .. Going by your logic, should we ask him to use the same language even at temples - I mean the language he speaks at his home?
