A recent survey, which was published in national daily news papers showed that a number of Telangana districts are ahead of even coastal Andhra districts in per capita income. The govt of AP also releases, regularly, the figures of money spent in various parts of the state, for development. These figures also indicate that Telangana is receiving much more of public funds than coastal/ Rayalaseema districts. And in addition to all this, most of the new industries are coming to Telangana. Then, why do some people keep regretting the fact of a united AP, when it was Sir Arthur Cotton who made the coastal areas prosperous, by his actions more than a hundred years ago? If at all there is a grievance for lack of jobs to certain categories of people, it is mainly due to the lack of their own enterprise. You can find any number of people migrating to Hyd every day and earning a livelihood without much difficulty. Then why can't the locals do the same? Yes, the govt is resposible for many things; but even God helps those, who help themselves.

Nagamuni garu is right. The politicians failed to live upto the ideals of United Telugu state. They discriminated against a resource rich but backward area and used it as a colonization opportunity rather than an opportunity to bring development and pull them up in par to the other area. West Geramny invested heavily in East Germany and raised its people's standards in line with the west. They took enormous debt for it. They didn't colonize and rape its resources and bring all West German managers and administrators to run the East. That is the difference between the Germans and Andhras. Telangana people paid a price for it for 50-years and now they are fed up and see the same continuing in future. So, out of self preservation they are fighting for self rule free from colonizers. The most any benevolent Andhra leader can do is to facilitate Telangana to have self rule and support them in the process, not continuing to force them to be in the alliance which was forced on them and they never approved it or appreciated or benefitted from it. Even if one believes these accusation by Telangana isn't correct, they should still support their self rule atleast to take away a crutch for Telangana leaders to blame the Andhra leaders. Yes, Telangana may go the way of Chattisgarh, or it may become an example for rest of India. But atleast it will be their responsibility. not some one else's. The growth that come about through trials and tribulations is needed for an individual or region before it stabilizes. The longer it is postponed, longer will the dis-advantage and the animosities and dis-unity.

Nagnamuni garu, Your article is excellent. I am facing the same agony as you expressed in your artcle.No-body is thinking, what for smaller states and for whom?.When whole world became one due to IT and internet, still some political parties crying that it will be beneficial for ruling. In what way, there is no answer. What happened to Jharkhand, five governments changed successively.Political leaders keep mum as long as they enjoy power, soon they loose ministry, all of a sudden they become patriots.First they aim to devide, so they can rule afterwards. What is the pity is intellectuals, students and even writers are becoming prey to these gimmicks. Then who will save our integrity and mother-tongue.When two Germanys united after forty years of separation and progressing with leaps and bounds, now our politicians are thinking of separating AndhraPradesh for their selfish ends.Pity.
