Late 19th century and early 20th Century the British Raj was laying railway lines across India to distribute their goods. During that time they uncovered many edicts in Pali and it was signed by Piyadasini. No one knew who this Piyadasini was? Later they found out it was King Asoka. Asoka ruled according to Dhrama and asked his employees, his children and his people follow the same. dear katti variety makes this world...but i learnt tht there is variety even in madness only after reading ur article...no one can deny the buddhist contributions to the ancient indian history...nor can anyone question the greatness of Gautama the Buddha...but to assume tht brahminism did not exist until the advent of guptas is ridiculous...coz all i know was tht vedas date older than budhism...besides ur anecdotes of nannayya destroying budhist litt is...brother u better check the authenticity of ur sources before propounding ur valuable theories...yeah, budhist influence on mahabharata...tht was too much...i wonder why u spared ramayana....budhism is an indigenous religion...no doubt...so is hinduism...which can be traced back to Indus valley civilization..u remember the clay tablet of Pashupati excavated at Harappa... there r such umpteen instances to prove tht the aryan invasion theory is farce...and abt Adi Shankara... i better not speak of it....katti, ur article has more prejudice than truth in it...i dont think antogonism towards ur faith can be a gud reason to convert into another...coz wht ultimately matters is peace of mind (like ur/my/our own buddha said)...and tht lack of peace is profoundly visible in u thru ur article...sober up and come to senses...and by the way savyasachi garu mee response adhbhutam...it is a fitting reply...nijamgaaney rendu chethulu chaachi kottaaru... regards gopi

Dear Katti Padma Rao garu, It is a wonderful article. It is time to study Telugu history independent of Brahmnical interpretation. Tamils live 100 miles away from Telugu country and their literature goes back to 300 BC. Our Grandhikavadulu say the adi.grandham (first book ) in telugu is tranlation of Nannaya Mahabhratha, which was written 1300 years later. To them there was no Telugu language, telugu culture or telugu history before Nannya. Budhha was the soul of India and it was our tragedy to loose that soul. Request to TP.Com administrators: People with pseudo name tp.com ids are making personal attacks on people who have identified themsleves with their real names. They think they can hide behind these pseudo ids and say any garbage. I request tp.com administrators to delete personal attcaks posted by people using a psuedo name id. People should identify with their real names if they want to challenge the author or other critics.
