| With differences in age, the problems like
domination over another may always occur irrespective of whether the elder is wife or husband. Frankly speaking, age is a trivial matter. I think what is more essential between a couple is common thinking and cooperation. Establishing these qualities would be definitely easier if they have common background like educational or financial or family, and much more easier if all the three are common. Even if they are not same, they should try to develop common ambitions, only then the problems can be minimised.
Coming to oldage life of a wife or a husband, the problem of dependency is the same for both. At one point of time, parents definitely need caring. It is true that now a days, many are ignoring their oldage parents. But this is quite sensetive issue and depends not just on the westernisation but also on how the relations existed between parents and children right from the childhood.

Today what is tradition, was once an initial step and these traditions are made by society, which comprises nothing but ourselves. Now the generation is changing, way of thinking is changing so this tradition also will change, but takes time. Ultimately, as long as there is understanding, belief and love betn the couple, age of either doesnot matter.
