Please just read the comments carefully one more time on this article. Sanskrit is musical, Sanskrit is a scientific language, and Sanskrit is mother of all languages. How many of these theories you believe? Most ridiculous story by Hayagreeva Murthy is you have to know Sanskrit to talk to 'Devathas' in heaven. I wonder what other religion people speak when they go to heaven.
100 Million Telugu people can't pray in Telugu in their own temples, can't read their news media in Telugu (not just script, but more accha telugu words), and now our education system wanted to destroy Telugu by encouraging the students to take Sanskrit to score high marks. Mr. S. Ramesh writes in tp.com about Telugu people in Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Orissa, and Maharashtra. What is the common denominator? Their love for their ancestral Telugu, not Sanskritized Grandhika bhasaha. Prof. Chandrasekar Reddy raised an important alarm that we must demand Telugu in our schools, media, temples, Mosques and Churches.
Malkpaet Rowdy is a coward, he hide behind a phony name and call others a racist. Prof Brdriiraju Krishnamurthy wrote 18 books on Dravidian language family and no one is a better expert than him. Sanskrit is not native to Telugu country and it belongs to Indo-European language family. Sanskrit is much closer to Latin, Arabic, German and Parsi. If any one has doubts, look at the back of a good dictionary, where the Indo-European language roots are listed. Let Malakpet Rowdy challenge that? He is a racist and wanted to continue his racism which was perpetuated from Nannaya's time. As Prof. Chandrasekahar Reddy said we are at the cross roads, and we must fight for our language and its usage every level. We should not be intimidated by Sanskrit zealots like Mr. Rowdy or people who are so ignorant that Sanskrit is the only language spoken by Devathas. Telugu is the 10th largest spoken language in the world and 100 Million Telugu people deserve better.

Yes thats a good idea - that way people can learn even Sanskrit better and people who dont want to learn it can opt for Telugu. It's a one's right to learn the language one wants to learn - Present both the languages to the student and let the student select what s/he wants to learn!
