Dear Sujatha Mudiganti garu,
Thank you for sharing the plight of Hosuru Telugu people. They deserve all our support. I disagree with your last statement about dividing the A.P. state. Hindi is spoken in nine states, and they have no poblem in promoting their language. The population was 3 crores when A.P. State was formed and today it is close to 8 crores. Telugu language will benefit if we have two telugu speaking states.
My second question is a more serious one. You witnessed the enthusiasm of Hosuru people to learn and preserve Telugu language. You also witnessed in first-hand Hosuru people speaking and writing Theta (accha) telugu, not the one we read in A.P.press. As a writer, please look at the language used in A.P. newspapers and in text books? Do you really think they are promoting and preserving Telugu language? Some Telugu writers boasted how proud they are that Telugu has digested 75% Sanskrit words. For Hosuru people, Telugu means Theta(accha) telugu not the Grandhika bhasha. Grandhika(Andhra) bhasaha is nothing but Sanskrit written in Telugu script with few borrowed telugu words. I hope you and your fellow writers get some inspiration from Hosuru Telugus to use 70 to 80% theta telugu words and limit the borrowed words only if we don't have an equvalent telugu word. Hope you promote theta telugu more vigorously in your future articles.
