let me be more precise... leave options to the 'market forces'. If petrol is going to be expensive, the corporate companies will come up with electric cars.
The great thing about market economy is - it will find out solutions for the problems it creates! It may not be the same company. One company creates problems and another company will take it as an opportunity and provide solutions for it.

In India, car is a dream of every person. People whoever can afford to buy a car will definitely buy it. Stopping it is simply against the nature. Let everybody buy the cars, then, they will realise the problems and then, come back to cycles.
Leave options to the people and then they will decide. Millions of people every day come to the New York city to work. But 99% of them use public transport only, because the toll charges are very high and there is no free parking in New York.
Similar situations will happen in Hyderabad also. Then, people will keep their cars at home and travel in buses and trains.
