An answer to these last two comments...
I only can say that we all have right to speach .As far as keeping the name as secret I didn't advertise the name of the greek lady...for that reason don't even remember her name......It was just an experience that I shared.an evening with her...a gr8 experience that I can remember all thru my life. Its just an exp with a lady I met..I dont have to know anything about greece or any other country to write about an exp with just a person from that country.
Do go thru other such articles....exp with foreigners and their knowledge about India and Hindu religion...

I read your mail you gave for your experience with a greek lady in London and what i wanted to know is that this lady im sure she wouldnt like you to advertise her name in the net.You should have minimum respect and understanding of that.Even stating the place she is from is enough to create a problem.
As far as India and knowledge is concerned ,you are doing a mistake ,Greece is more developed than India.Look at the quality of leaving.
Posted by: Mr. kumar raj At: 16, Feb 2004 5:09:02 AM IST Hi all,This is interesting that a lot of people see the difference.Let me share my experice.
My girl friend is Greek. She lives on Levanathos(Athens).
She asks me about my tradition,my language, daily life when i WAS IN India, the general life but believe me She was never satisfied to hear what I know.We people from telugu land cannot talk for 5 minutes without using a english word, but whese Greeks talk they wont use any other language, not even one word.IF we speak for 5 mins atleast 3 mins will be in english. Why is this.WHen she asks me why is this I find no ans.I used to convince her India was under British rule Thats why.But Greece was under Turks rule but they didnt forget their language and customs.
They know their culture so well and we know nothing I can say.We say we are 'SECULAR' I doubt if any ones knows what it means.
I see in friends flats national flags of their Country, but for Indian guys no never I never saw even one thing like that(Now please dont argue that having a flag doesnt get patritism).
Greece is a developing country, less developed than India but they know their culture they know what is theirs perfectly and are eager to new things, but majority of Indians know nothing about the culture.WHY?
Pl dont argue any good spirited comments!I will be happy to receive.
Thanks.

If India is well known for its rich hertiage and culture it doesnt mean that every indian needs to go to temple or read geetha, just like America which is one of most advanced countries and they are still many pepole who are illterates. My point is that we indians are very proud of our past, present and future it doesnt always mean we have to go to temple or read great epics, according to me religion, culture and heritage are within ourselves in our inner soul only thing we need to do is try harder to bring it into light,- it's also one of many sayings the great vivekananda said and did. I dont mean to offend / defend anyone here , i wrote only what i feel and felt.thankyou, never underestimate yourself or your nation.
Posted by: Mr. Vivekananda Vedula At: 19, Oct 2003 12:02:09 PM IST Shobha garu, really very good and essential article. I remember Swami Vivekanand's lines: 'Know thy past. Know thy history'. Yes. We need to respect our tradition, culture and holy, philosophical books. Also like your greek lady, we need to show interest to know about other religions too. We should assimilate all the noble practises of each and every religion and shun the bad ones. We should know the value of tolerance.
Expecting more articles from you. Also why don't you ask the greek lady to share her experiences, feelings etc.,
