I'm sorry Jyothirmai to say you have completely developed a false impression on NRIs. FYI-How many ever years it take, my sayings in this article do not change. No body said we became patriots over night after settling in foreign land. As I believe, patriotism is not to be discussed but felt. So I don't feel it wise on my part to argue with you. I'm not as patriotic as any of you who can live there having husband live in a foreign land. Let the whole world think otherwise, I love my country. We know how to utilise the disaster money we collect here to be given to needed people there. Though we live far from them, we have our parents who will take care of the situation.

Hi Sharmila, Its been 1 and half years since u write this article and did discuss with all the members. I hope u would have changed urself by now and would have understood what sort of article you wrote. If some one become patriot overnight after settling down in foreign country and most of the people staying in India are not patriots, then it is a false impression. Let me remind those patriots one thing, before settling down in a foreign country, even they were born and brought up in India. That do mean even that so called patrots are not patriotic when they are in India. Right....!!!!! EE golantha enduku.... Dabbu kosam andaru akkadiki veltaru. Akka luxuries ki alavatu paddaka inka venakki raaleru. Thats it. One more thing I want to tell, all the news papers highlight the contributions and donations given by NRI's. It is because they feel it inspires the other NRI's. People who stay in India also do contributions but they will not get limelight, because they will not approach the news papers to give donations. Giving donations when calamities like tsunami arises will not be treated as patriotism. Unless the money sent by people as donations is managed properly and distributed here how the money get utilized. For managing all those people has to stay in India only. Anyway money is not everything. Even I am working in software and given a chance will go abroad and explore foreign countries and make some money and come back. I do not ask for ideas to help some poor people. Nijamga help cheyyali ani intention vunte inkokalla ideas kosam wait cheyyaru. Disclaimer: Sole intention of this message is to defend the people whoever are staying in India and getting bullied by your statements. Mimmalni meeru great ga prove cheskovalante inkokalla mida burada challakkarledandi. Cheers, Jyothirmai, Gosukonda.

Hey kiran......nice to hear ur thoughts in written.ok there are people already doing what they can .we can do simple things to bring a change..... a positive change .what I do is as soon as i wake up I pray to God "LOKAASSAMASTAA SUKHINO BHAVANTU".MAY THE WHOLE WORLD BE IN PEACE.Where in India is also included. This might seem to be silly to those who really don't know the effect of a hearfelt prayer.Iam sure it has its own effect. If everyone prays that our country/world should rest in peace wholeheartedly atleast for a moment,it does prove its power for sure. If we want to prove the greatness of being an Indian,be good to all regardless of they being Indians or non Indians.Be helpful to people in little ways. For eg one of my friends came up with a suggestion like.....cut down expenses on birthday parties(usa) etc etc and utilise it to educate atleast one child for an year and so on.........any one can come up with any new ideas.

sharmila, Nice article, I applaud your thoughts. May be in addition we NRI's should do some thing to promote and share the love we have towards our mother country. I would encourage you to write how we could help our people back home, and show our patriotism. Please do comment your idea's Kiran R

/* I am not less Indian..none can question that...I am just being more productive for myself and my family and friends.*/ claps claps..who the hell to question abt my patriatism and credibility....

I do not know how many people here are accepting it...the money factor. There are various reasons that drive people to USA. For me it was money only. I am not a scientist or so. I was not a brilliant student. I didnt get job in decent companies. I tried to start something on my own...but I didnt have money. I worked in IT for 2 years...I didnt have the previlage to lose whatever little my company was paying. At that rate..I may retire with nothing in my pocket even after 40 yrs. So I decided to move to USA....I see this as a classic example where the candidate is of NOT MUCH USE TO INDIA. I moved to USA and here I am working in a high end environment. I am rated well above average. I am in a better position than I would have been in India. I am helping friends in India in achieving their goals. I am better taking care of my parents in India. I dont think where you are is an issue. I dont think people living in india working for MNC software companies (which provide solutions to companies in USA) any different than me working directly for the clients here. I am not less Indian..none can question that...I am just being more productive for myself and my family and friends. I am sure I will return to India in few more years and I WILL BE MORE USEFUL TO INDIA. Let us first evaluate how qualified we are to question someones Indianness or patriotic approach.
