Quoting people to suit the writer's convenience has become a fashion. Ambedkar was a great lawyer and pro-British during the freedom struggle. Constitution Committee entrusted him to draft what transpired in the disussions. Thus, Indian constitution has become the largest in the world as it was borrowed from all the leading western countries. If Ambedkar supported Bombay to be in Maharashtra, Deshmukh wanted it to be a city state. Ambedkar did not want one state for all Hindi speaking people. Nobody wanted one state. He is not opposed to the linguistic states. Nehru, for example, opposed the split of Hyderabad State as he fancied a composite state much better than linguistic divisions. All such views were their personal not practicable in the given situation. Greater Hyderabad City has different characteristics than Telengana. Even before the formation of AP, Hyderabad has been a composite city consisting of Muslims, Telugus of Telengana, Kannadigas, Maharashtrians, Khayastas, and people from various states in India. If anything that composite culture has increased greatly after the formation of AP with greater number of Andhras (36 lakhs according to the writer) and merger of Hyderad & Secunderabad, a predominantly Hindu city and several neighboring villages and lots of developments and industrialisation as explained by the writer. If Telengana leaders want a separate state for their own political, and parochial reasons what wrong is there if Telugu speaking Andhras or/and Hyderabadis demand a separate centre-administered Hyderabad. If Telenganites don't trust elected leaders coming from Andhra area, Hyderabadis as well Andhra investors don't trust Telenganites. It is all mutual. Since nobody, not even Ambedkar, defined the smallness of a state, AP could be divided into Hyderabad City, Telengana, Rayalaseema, and (coastal)Andhra. There could be 4 chief ministers, four governors, and four high courts. These politcal unemployed might find places in four states. As it used to be, Telengana people can have a new avenue for money by selling mulki certificates for non-Telenganites in a separate Telengana state. Patab Ram
