Articles: My Thoughts | Am I a millioniare? - Nazeer
| |
I am a farmer, owned hunderd acres of family land.
As far as I could remember, neither my father, nor my uncles, could grow anything on the land.
The land was barren, dry and reaped nothing.
Frineds told me to dig for oil in the land since soil formation had dark streaks to it.
I, with the help of local drillers, dug.
I dug in several spots and all the corners of the land but all the digging showed no signs of oil anywhere.
Frustrated, I signed up some foreign partners and agreed to share eighty percent, if they hit oil.
The new partners went to the centre of the arid land, strung up a massive rig and dug.
They dug hundred times deeper than I, and my crew had ever done.
Very soon, they hit oil.
Normally when oil is hit gushes out and shoots out over the rig.
When they hit oil in my land not only did the oil shoot up from the ground it also ripped out the heavy steel rig from the earth and blew it up far into the sky.
They hit oil! Millions of barrels a day!
Oil, those days, was priced at about $20 a barrel.
The question arises---
did I become a millioniare?
On that day when they struck millions of barrels of oil in my land, did I milllionaire!
The answer is no!
No, I did not become a millionaire on the day they found oil on my land.
The oil had been laying right under my feet all my life.
I had always been a millionaire, only I had never dug deep enough into my own property.
