Even that passes for the routine of daily secular activity is suffused with the ideal of spiritual realization. Life accordingly, was to be lived to the full and the years must be spent in activity directed towards fulfillment and liberation. Our Isavasya Upanisad says ‘By doing karma or action, indeed, should one wish to live for hundred years. There is no other way’. Our rishis and wise guides have laid down tried and tested ways of satisfying our longing for happiness, pleasure and contentment. In course of time they have become part of our ethos, our culture and inheritance.

Pray with a sincere heart or repeat any mantra, a divine name or mystic formula with feeling and devotion. Give positive suggestions to your mind before sleeping which continue to operate during the night. Even if you read or pray for only ten minutes, that effort educates your unconscious profoundly. Live righteously so that you are not pinched by a guilty conscience which will rob you of your pleasant sleep.
