Importance of a Temple in Hindu Religion
- Mrs. sharmila Sanka

Hinduism is a religion of love wherein, we have so many Gods who help us practice unity in diversity. For this, one needs to have tremendous faith and unfolded attitude towards the divine. God is onmiscient, omnipresent and he deserves all the wholehearted prayers of the world. Sometimes our busy schedule doesn’t permit us to spare little time for Him. We, Hindus, ought to be proud to have many festivals which are meant to awaken happiness and peace. Despite living away from India, we have all the festivals to celebrate,so many people to enjoy, except for a little temple where in, God resides physically . Temple is a place which acts as a bridge between two hearts-devotee and the Lord. It is a place so full of divine vibrations ,a place to yearn for the love and mercy of the lord. Imagine the intensity of the vibrations when hundreds of people gather at a single place and pray with all their hearts. This is the reason why the idol made of stone acquires lots of powers. Our prayers give the stone a divine power which has the capability to bestow all the wonderful boons in the world. The temple becomes an instrument to intensify the interaction between the Lord and the devotee. Practically it helps the children nourish ,respect and imbibe the great Indian culture with awareness. Temple is not only a land of devotion but it is also a place of recreation, laughter where in many cultural activities take place during all occassions. Talent does what it can, genius does what it must. Now it is our turn to be a spark of this divine fire of Hindu temple. I don't know why we are here, but I'm pretty sure that it is not in order to enjoy ourselves but to make a miracle happen. We not only need to involve but also commit ourselves to this divine mission. In this context I would like to quote, “The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed”. For this divine purpose we should not be asked again and again,we should come forward whole heartedly. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. Let us give a helping hand to the ones devoted to this great mission. “First people ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.' So said Mahatma Gandhi and let us live up to his spirit. I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter. Dear God, our love for you is so abundant and selfless that our little prayer deserves your blessings. You are a blend of Mother, Father, Friend and Philosopher. What do I call the ONE who is all the above? God?This single word seems so small for me but it has the whole world in it. 'I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world'………...Sharmila Sanka
