Life Before/After Computers
An application was for employment
Now it's for deployement
A program was a TV show
Now it's written row after row.
A cursor used profanity
Now there's no more curiosity.
A keyboard was a piano!
Now you use it to say 'Yes' or 'No'
Memory was something that you lost with age
Now it is huge data, page after page
RAM was a male sheep
Now, less of it, your computer can't even creep
A CD was a bank account
Now you can buy it for a paltry amount
And if you had a broken disk, it would hurt!
Now you do not care, cos' it is like dirt!
Monitor was a lizard
Now, one who sits before it, is a wizard
Monitor was also a pupil who assisted a teacher
Now it is even owned by one who is a preacher
Resolution was a decision made (on new years day) to fade away day by day
Now it's 800 by 600 every day
Compress was something you did to garbage
Now, who dosen't use Winzip on an average ?
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be put in a jail cubic
Log on was adding wood to a fire
Now it is a need - dire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
Now, day by day their capacities are growing like greed
A mouse was another name of a rat
Now the cursor won't move without that
And a backup happened to your commode!
Now if you don't do it, well !, you lost all your code
Cut - you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu!
Bug was a insect, which as a student you'd dissect
Now if you don't remove one, the program is not perfect
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens they would say 'gosh ! if I had a machintosh......' !
I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And with the memory in my head, it's much cheaper !!!
