I honestly don’t know what one was thinking when they gave the name “white-collar jobs “ but sometimes to me it appears so ironical.
Morning I wake up, put up my happy face, greet one and all with a smile on my face (even though I am really in a bad mood because of the recent events in my life). I work for few hours when at least 5 people interrupt me saying to me,” am I bothering you?” (Oh sure you are when I am trying to figure out the last line of my code). Ok, I thought I could handle this then my phone rings with the original boring sound, I say 'Hello'. On the other side “ Hi, this is from human resources. I am doing a survey, please pardon me because you are my guinea pig” (how exciting all my life I was guinea pig in some or the other stage why not now?), “ya sure, go ahead” I say (save my tiny brain oh lord! I say my prayers).
Then after all this, I try to divert myself and open the solitaire game page, just then my friend comes ” hahah……… your job is great man all the time you play and chat.blah blah” (Excuse me, I wish this buddy of mine was in my shoes for at least one day). Ok man come lets go lunching……… ya sure my brain does need a larger dose of glucose now.
I return from lunch, my voice mail light of phone is blinking (great, just what I need now) its from my boss he needs to see me (I wonder what surprise now he has for me).
I go to his room knock his door put my toothpaste smiley and greet him. “Ya, come in Mr.…how are you today, how is everyone treating you (to tell the truth ……………no, truth hurts L), Ok listen while I was going through your work I found some small changes in your code which I wish would like to be……………….” (Wow man I should appreciate his talent of keeping the smiley face all the time he was saying he did not like my code and want me to rewrite a 50 page code).
Ok I came to my desk, took off the pressure with a sip of tea (not really the real fun starts now, rewriting a 50 page code?). Just then same old pal of mine comes to my desk again “ Hey man what are you doing drinking tea and relaxing, you are a born lucky I wish I had some of yours. (Well take all you want you ignorant person).
I start writing code and guess what time it is 7:30 P.M., and the office is so quite because almost all left to home and I succeed in rewriting the stuff by 11:30 P.M., just then my mobiles rings. “ Its me your mother. Isn’t it night? There you are still working my dear son. Please take good care of yourself'. (Sure mommy once I go home and eat something I will sure).
Friends if anyone said white-collar jobs are cool and real money, please on the behalf of white-collar job community teach that person a good lesson. No not really help him in getting a white-collar job and let him realize the coolness by himself.
