Rendezvous with Romance

There would be a moment in where gaps of emotional vacuum make one feel an aching emptiness in the heart, an unknown void in the mind, and passivity in the activities. That would be the time when one would tend to think about someone who they long for. That would be the time when the worst ruptures of the broken feelings of loneliness need a soothing hand. That would be the time when the colossal volumes of desperation would be nurtured to their natural death with a listening heart. Whenever I think of myself suffering in such conditions, I would think of her with an alluring smile, a patient heart listening to every beat of my beleaguered heart. Only she could make me realize my happiness. Only she could make my world more beautiful. She only could make me a living person. One such an evening saw me waiting for her to come. The setting Sun was the backdrop for the most turbulent feelings of mine. I didn’t know how to organize my feelings and package them to her. Though this was not our first meeting, it was definitely a significant one. The chirping birds were conveying some message to me in their own language. So as to say,” For all the good things on this Earth, you need to work. For all the better things on this Earth, you need to struggle. For all the best things on this Earth, you need to wait.” I smiled at them; they in turn cooed at me! I sauntered along the pathway that was long enough to make my destiny to bliss unreachable without her. The tiny plants were swinging to the melodies of the warm breezes that were making their way through the shades of the trees. I kneeled down and reached the plants. I touched them mildly saying,” I am waiting for her”, for which they smiled through their dancing leaves. A butterfly was trying to reach me in a desperate hurry. Sensing that, I stretched my arm towards it. It easily ensconced on my palm. I asked her, ”What happened?” She remained silent for a moment and after gasping a little, said,” Is she that loveable?” What could I say? I simply blurted, “Love is ‘she!’” Puzzled by my rather abruptness, she made a bend and kissed my palm, and said,” I wish I were she!”, and lifted herself freely in the air. Flying smoothly. There was a crunched wooden plank joining two small rocks. That plank looked as though it had been a witness to many hearts sharing each other. It offered itself for me. I laid down on it, looking at the western part of the sky that was completely painted with redness. It looked as though my blood was spilt for a moment on the sky with a vicarious happiness that I was going to see her. I sighed. The warm breath of mine touched my chest with warmth of separation. I looked at a near-black cloud. It was flowing towards its undefined destiny with heaviness. I could sense its heaviness when a point in the cloud could not dissipate itself as fast as it’s other counterparts. I asked it,” Is heaviness that painful?” A drop of water fell on me as a response to my seemingly simple query. I was waiting for her still… She came at last. With an élan and an aura of dignity. The face with an ‘I-am-yours’ expression; the smile on her lips that would enliven the most darker areas of my self. The small colorful filled circle between her eyes was effusing radiance. I could distinctly see her beautiful eyes saying, “I am sorry for making you wait.” When she came, the winds stopped flowing for a while as though they had been relegated to the back by the Mother Nature. The plants that talked to me in my waiting paved their way for her looking at her with jealousy. She silently stood before me, with her eyes looking directly into mine. I looked at her for a moment. A tear slowly dropped from my right eye. She too shared it. We stood there for sometime when suddenly a gushing wind interrupted us with an element of vengeance. Tears rolled out of my eyes deep into my heart. We started to walk silently. The Sun was partially visible from the distant horizons. A daring orange-colored cloud covered the Sun and was happy enough to reflect the light that it had absorbed. There was a sudden eeriness in the atmosphere. My heart was beating with a harmony of love. My mind was almost void of any natural feeling. My thoughts were disturbed when she asked me to sit at a place. I looked at the place she preferred to sit. It was a near flat surface with occasional bumps of pebbles; the thick layers of the grass covering the entire surface were exquisite with tiny droplets of water on the leaves. Black clouds were gathering to make themselves witness to the sheer confluence of feelings within us. They looked so happily moving that their movement reflected the liveliness of the atmosphere around us. When one loves somebody, it is said, everything would be as though talking to him. And, everything tends to appear beautiful. I turned at her. She was moving her hand in a semi-circular fashion over the top edges of the grass lines. Her face was effusing occasional smiles. The winds that were blowing now after deciding that we were a part of the Nature, were making her hair disturbed. The droplets on the grass wet her palms. She was feeling a divine happiness in touching them. “Why do you like the Nature?”, I asked intently. She smiled at me and remained silent. Impatient with her silence, I continued, “I could see you in this greenery; I could see you in the waxing and waning of the Moon; I could see you in the rising Sun; I could feel you in every gush of the breeze.” She simply quipped, “Because I am yours.” The light had not yet faded away. The crimson colored sky looked like the rooftop of a large building that we had occupied. The sounds of the silence were mellifluous. The butterfly came again. This time she asked me, “Is this she you long for? Is this she you had lost your thoughts on? Is this she you had created a space in your heart that had been opened exclusively for her?” Raw questions, I felt for a moment. I said, “She is my world. The existence of my life had been happening in that world.” It flied away with a jealous look at her face. Sensitivities always attracted me. The near purity of the mind would be manifested in the sensitivity of the person. She too had been sensitive. To my feelings; to my emotions; to my mind. I once had asked her how she had become so sensitive. She replied, “Suffering effects in Sensitivity.” I know the perennial effects of suffering. The multitude of the mental ordeals associated with cannot be explained. I understand her in her way. I studied her in my way. Uniquely. With Love. We remained there for a long unknown period. Most of the time had been silent filled with the heaviness of our emotions. I needed her by my side. And she was ready to be with me. In the ongoing passage of time, there was an inherent compassion that filled our hearts. Our hearts thus talked to each other though we were explicitly silent. They were constantly being filled with an unbounded joy. I wanted that moment to remain for my entire life, however constrained it had been! A thunder sounded suddenly in the remotest parts of the sky like a huge group of clouds falling down under their own weight! Miniscule drops started falling a few moments later. The first drop made its way across her forehead. She was oblivious to the flowing drop of the rain. The tiny drop remained right between her eyes, as though it was trying to lessen the radiance given out by her bindi! I was trying to read the reflections carried by the drop. She suddenly winced her eyes and looked upwards to the sky. This time more drops perched on her face manifesting the smoothness of the pure and radiant surface of it. She slowly moved near to me so as to cover herself. Sensing her need I stretched my arms and surrounded her. She was so close to me held within my arms, her head rested against my shoulders. We this time together were the targets of the incessant attitude of the rain to wet us. The rain stopped gradually, with the breezes flowing with more coldness embedded in them. I was feeling some unknown joy to be with her. Her mere presence would make me to erase all my past with one blow. I could feel her breath now in a more rhythmic manner. Her cheeks were so cool that when I had tried to take back my palms against them, she resisted. She loved the ensuing warmth. And, I was privileged to have a sensitive soul so near to me! It was almost dark around us. The darkness had a subtle meaning that we were a part of it with our inner selves merging with it seamlessly. The intensity of darkness, it looked to me, posed a challenge to my inner light of divinity. I asked her, “Can we dispel this darkness?” She too peered into it, thought about it for a while and said,” This is a part of us. When it is gone, we cannot realize the true potential of our inner radiance.” “But, I fear this darkness”, I murmured with a sense of quirk trepidity. “A glimmer of Love would vanquish the darkness. A collage of sensuality would crush out the rock of deep shadows of light.” I raised her face towards me. It looked as though it was a piece parted with something priceless from the Universe. My lips tenderly touched her forehead as a gesture of thankfulness. The clouds above us drifted away. A sweet sound of a bird was being felt that ripped through my heart. A slight silver line appeared on the western part of the sky. It looked as though the Moon was feeling shy from complete appearance. I stretched my hand and held one of its ends by my fingers. She was looking at the Moon with awe, her one hand locked with mine, her body leaning against mine sideways. I virtually caught the grandiose of Moon and presented to her. She accepted with grace and laughed whole-heartedly. Still we were walking capturing every entity surrounding us in our minds. The journey for us was a long one; an unending odyssey that had no beginning and no end. I cherished every moment of my being so close to her. I had been at times accused of inappropriate sensitivities and unsolicited emotional responses. Despite my weaknesses, I strive to hold my feelings in my heart until she arrives and listens to them, and feels them with her flavor. I would get a fiery sense of rejected dispositions whenever my feelings were looked down. I asked her,” I am overwhelmed by a spectrum of emotional insensitivities. Still, why do you prefer to love me, and attach yourself to the unending nature of mine?” She looked at me, taking my hand into hers. Her eyes were red. The reflection of the distant light from one end of her eyes, was touching evidence to the presence of wetness in them. She muttered slowly, “There is no such thing as a weakness. We can have stronger traits, and less strong traits! My love for you reinforces the former in you, and elevates the later ones into the former!” I could not answer. Probably, my words disappeared in the silent storm that her tears carry! With so much heaviness choking in my throat, I could not lend any of my words to her. When she was bidding farewell to me at the end of the day, I felt some lump of pain attempting to check the flow of blood in every nerve of my body. I was once again waiting for her to come
