Once upon a time there lived a boy whose name is Siddappa in a village. Siddappa is very lazy and do not want to work but he wants to earn money through getting hymns and doing tapasya. He went to nearby forest where he located a saint. He requested saint to do something to get more and more money without any risk and doing hard work.
The Saint told Siddappa, it is possible but he has to do tapasya for it which he can start after performing a puja. He asked what are the requirements for doing puja. Saint answered Siddappa that puja needs only three items they are a healthy cow, 10 gold coins and a piece of land of his own.
Siddappa was not having any of the three items required for puja. Then he requested some time to arrange the cow, gold coins and land. Saint agreed.
Siddappa returned to his village and started doing some job next day onwards and earned sufficient money to perform puja after one year. He approached the Saint and told that he is ready for performing puja.
Saint told Siddappa that there is no good time in near future and hence asked to meet him after six months. Siddappa went back to home. He started selling the milk of cow, invested gold coins in a small business and started cultivating the land. Six months passed and he went to Saint.
The saint asked Siddappa about the experience of waiting six months for puja. Siddappa told he earned money by selling the milk with which he can purchase one more cow. He made his 10 gold coins to 15 by earning profit in his business and also some more money from the land by cultivating it.
Saint then asked Siddappa what will happen if he continues to do the same for atleast 5 years. Siddappa understood what Saint wanted to explain.
He simply left the place by saying thanks to Saint. Siddappa became a rich man after some years. Villagers believe that Siddappa really did some tapasya.
Siddappa explains that the meaning of tapasya is concentrating on the lakshya.
